Many people asked me about how I got this chance to act in a Maniratnam film?
It was purely because of the reputation and goodwill of my parents that I have got this opportunity!
As Rajni Sir said once,
If you are destined to get, you will definitely get it; if you are not destined to get it, you will never get it!
I wanted to do something good for this project but did not know what to do!
I realise that it is 20 years since I entered the film industry!
Regarding the character of Arunmozhivarman, Mani Sir asked me to listen to his narration of that character carefully. All through those 6 months, I meticulously followed his instructions. I remained in that mood all the time and that i s how it was done!
I thank all my co- stars and Mr. Subaskaran wholeheartedly.
Even before love blossomed between Manirathnam and Suhasini, Manirathnam already had another love and that love was his dream of making this film!

The movie we saw last week would have become familiar to us and the story we heard last month would have become old. But this story dated back to many years has become history due to Kalki’s writing Mani Ratnam is presenting his dream today. If Kalki had been there today, as you clap your hands while I speak, he would have clapped his hands to applaud Mani Ratnam!
When I did Selva Raghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan, we all spoke chaste Tamil and we all were very proud about it!
But when I came in to act I was humbled by Manirathnam ‘ s way of handling the chaste Tamil dialogue which was distinctly different. It was a great learning process!
Beauty Queen Aiswarya Rai Bachchan has played the character Nandini and I would say that she has immortalised that character by her performance! ‘
Mani sir will always be my guru. This film gave me the feeling of pride – Aishwarya Rai.
I got the chance to act with Rajini sir but I did not get the chance to act with Kamal Sir – Aishwarya Rai.

I feel happy to be here. Mani Ratnam sir is my Guru. He will always remain as my guru. I thank him for giving me this opportunity. This film made not just me but everyone to feel proud. The dream of whole cast has came true today.
Mani Ratnam is a Master in filmmaking. I thank Lyca Productions, Ravi Varman ,A.R. Rahman and all other members the cast and technicians who were part of this film.
It is an unforgetable moments to work with Jayaram ,Parthiban, Sarath Prabhu, Thotta Tharani Sreekar Prasad, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Trisha.

After Chekka Chivantha Vaanam,Subaskaran asked me what i am going to do.I told i want to make Ponniyin Selvan.In just 2 minutes he decided to make the film.
He asked me whether this film will be like Rajamouli’s Bahubali.I told it definitely won’t be like Bahubali.
He asked whether it will be like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavat. I told it won’t be. Then he asked how it will be. I told it will be like Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan. We have tried our best to make exactly the same.
The cast of the film has given me great support. Kamal Sir has given voice to this film. You will know when you see the trailer.
Vikram mentioned that there is a general tendency to applaud World Wonders as Egyptian Pyramids!
Well, the novel by Kalki and its film version by Manirathnam needs to be applauded and appreciated as World Class Wonders!
