‘Ponniin Selvan -Part 1’ has released and is creating a new record critically and grossly. In this case, a ceremony was held at a star hotel in Chennai to thank the press for making the film a success. Since it is the Pan India season, we have introduced this film not only in Tamil but also to the people who speak other Indian languages. Because we have such a compelling narrative work. There was also self-confidence when taking this to others. Correspondingly, there was a review of the film in every magazine. I would like to take this moment to thank all the journalists in Tamil Nadu, India and worldwide. Even the smallest things in the film were described and praised. I was happy to read all this. It was really gratifying to know that people’s taste has improved through this.
Thanks to Mani sir for the magic of reading Ponni’s Selvan novel and watching it as a film in theatres. It is not easy to bring the characters and the story that have been ingrained in the minds of millions of readers for years on the screen. No one can force Mani Ratnam to create this work. But Mani sir, I will carry the extra burden. Thank you so much for willingly agreeing to lift it, for taking responsibility and leading us all together, and for delivering a work for everyone in the world to celebrate. ” said.
Chiyaan Vikram said, “I echo what Jayam Ravi and Karthi said. The response to Ponnyini’s Selvan has left us heartbroken. Press and media have been a great bridge from the beginning of the film. Like no other film, I visited every social media page like Twitter, Facebook for reviews about the film. Everyone posted something new. This surprised and delighted me. I was engrossed in it to such an extent that my family members were elated!
After reading this novel for many years, they will be drawing in their minds about the characters in different ways. Everyone would have had an imagination for every character like Aditya Karikalan, Vandiyathevan, Kunthavai, Arulmozhivarman.. They all had a face. All those faces have now become our faces. Now when you think of those characters, our faces come to your mind. For this we express our humble gratitude to the creator Mani Ratnam.
As actors, we have appeared in many roles. But what is new is that we have transformed into a face that has long been in the imagination of the readers.. Actors always want to have a close connection with the audience. It is really gratifying to think that we have easily achieved that through this film. The love shown by the fans towards the historical characters has reached us today. A single word of thanks is not enough.
The joy is doubled when people who have not visited the cinema for forty years have visited the theater again for this film. However, they say that all the five parts of Ponniyin’s Selvan novel should be read again. After watching this movie, everyone is getting interested in reading, which is a great thing. All credit goes to director Mani Ratnam and producer Subhaskaran.” said.
Director Maniratnam said, “I don’t know how to say thank you. First thanks to Amarar Kalki. Every reader who has read this novel will have every dream. I wanted to make it into a film. Thanks to everyone who allowed and approved this. Subhaskaran met them and said, ‘I want to film Ponni’s Selvan novel’. Rende said yes in a minute. If he had said no, this work would not have been created. So I thank him at this moment. All the actors and actresses who acted in this film gave their cooperation as a family. This would not have happened without their contribution. Even during the Corona period, it is impossible to forget that he did not increase his body weight, but maintained it regularly and cooperated. I owe thanks to all the technicians and workers who worked on this film. It was only when the shoot was over every day that we came out and saw how many people were working so hard. When I was young, I had seen ‘Talapati’ directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Superstar Rajinikanth. Both of them are my inspiration till date. He handled the pre-production and post-production work of this film very well. I would like to thank the technicians including AR Raghuman and the actors and actresses including Seyan Vikram who worked for this film. On behalf of Lyca Group, I would like to thank everyone who made this film a success.
Meanwhile, in honor of Amarar Kalki who wrote the novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, Lyca Niravana and Madras Talkies have jointly donated one crore rupees to the charity named after him. It is noteworthy that Laika Group President Subhaskaran and Director Mani Ratnam presented it to Mrs. Sitharavi, the Trustee’s Executive Trustee, in the presence of Amarar Kalki’s son Kalki Rajendran in Chennai.
