‘Bommai Nayaki’ is jointly produced by director Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Yazhi Films. Director Shaan has written and directed the story of this movie starring actor Yogi Babu as the hero!
Subatra plays the female lead and Srimathi Yogibabu’s daughter plays a crucial role.
Along with them, GM Kumar, Aruldas, ‘Madras Johnny’ Harikrishnan, KBY Jayachandran, Director SS Stanley, Lily John, Rockstar Ramaniyamma and many others are appearing in important roles.
The music is composed by Sundaramurthy and the cinematography of this film has been handled by Adhisayaraj.

As the film is scheduled for theatrical release on 3rd February 2023, the Audio Launch of the film was held at Prasad Lab., Saligramam. Along with the film crew, the film’s producer and director Pa. Ranjith, the film’s hero Yogi Babu, directors Mari Selvaraj, Adhiyan Adhirai, Franklin and others were present as Special Guests.
When Yogi Babu, the hero of the film spoke –
Director Shaan never let me do comedy in this film. Earlier, when an opportunity came to act in Pa. Ranjith’s Attakathi, they suddenly asked for a call sheet for twenty days. At that time I had given dates for Sundar C’s Kalakalappu so the opportunity was missed. But thanks to the director Mari Selvaraj who gave me the opportunity to act in the production of Neelam Productions through Pariyerum Perumal.
Since the film’ s theme is set around father-daughter relationship, the screenplay has been fabricated to convey the pain of a father.
As a father since the past five months I have felt that experience too. Director Shaan has worked very hard for this film.
From my early days in cinema, I have come to this place after facing many humiliations.. I have always been a comedy actor. On the other hand, I am ready to act if you trust me and if you think that there is something even in this face. Buy liberally,” Yogi Babu places a call to all creative filmmakers!
Director Shaan said, “After writing the story of this film, I didn’t tell it to many people. But many of those who asked said that Neelam Productions would be the right place to produce this story. It was at that time that director Pa. Ranjith started a production company to give opportunities only to his assistant directors and was making a film called Pariyerum Perumal.
After years of trying and waiting to meet him since then, I somehow took my story to him. I give priority to the maiden ventures of my assistant directors first. He even told me to tell the producers whom I meet that I am Pa. Ranjith’ s deputy!
Hearing that made me envious of the assistant directors working with him. Even though I said yes to him at that time, I was very sure that this film should be made by Neelam Productions. Finally, director Pa. Ranjith came forward to produce my story!
When I was thinking of whom to approach for this film, I told Pa. Ranjith that after seeing Yogi Babu’s performance in Pariyerum Perumal, I could sign him. He entrusted me with the responsibility of signing Yogi Babu. I tried to meet Yogi Babu in person who was shooting for Karnan in Tenkasi at that time and told him this story. To help me to narrate the script to Yogi Babu tell the story, director Mari Selvaraj delayed shooting scenes for him and spared 3 hours of Yog Babu’s precious time for me.
While telling this story to Yogi Babu he hesitated at first when he said that you are the hero of the story.
While we were looking for the right person to play the child star in this film, Srimathi singing in Super Singer caught our eye. We went to his father and asked permission to act in the film. At first he refused and then he immediately agreed to cast his daughter in a film produced by Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions.
Officials who saw this film in the Censor Screening appreciated the film and told me, you have handled this story correctly.
As a producer, Pa. Ranjith will never ever let the scenes show ladies and children in poor light!
As far as he is concerned, he is sure that there should be no anti-women and children in the film. If so, he himself will delete it all before Censorship!
Yoga Babu trusted this script and that is the reason why he is sitting patiently in this event even though despite his busy schedules.
When I told him that the cinematography of this film would be done by Adhisayaraj initially, Pa. Ranjith hesitated. But the situation changed and he agreed!
Speaking at the event, producer and director Pa. Ranjith said, “I was hesitant at first when director Shaan told me that Yogi Babu could be cast in this film. Because I liked Yogi Babu’s character since I saw Pariyerum Perumal but I don’t like standing behind budy actors which is stressful for me. So I told Shaan that I will not talk to Yogi Babu and I have no objection if he agrees to this story. His character in this film is an extension of Yogi Babu’s character seen in Pariyerum Perumal. He has acted equally well in this film.
When I asked them to read this story, many people told me that they had negative thoughts about this film. That’s when I decided to make this film. Although this film addresses an important issue, I don’t believe in addressing it with disdain. I wanted it to be a no-nonsense film. I have a huge responsibility when producing a film through Neelam Productions..
Two and a half years ago there were a lot of opportunities for short films to be published on OTT platforms. But now small budget films cannot be sold so easily in OTT. They buy big films. It has become more difficult to release films in OTT than in theatres. Similiarly people do not show much interest in small films. An attitude has developed that even if it comes to OTT, we can watch it,” he concluded!
