Actor Simha starrer ‘Vasantha Mullai’ released on February 10th in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. The Kannada language preview was released by ‘Superstar’ Sivaraj Kumar, the Telugu language preview by ‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi and the Tamil language preview by senior journalists.
‘Vasantha Mullai’ was the first film directed by debutant director Ramanan Purushottama. In this Simha plays the hero of the story, and actress Kashmira Bardesi is paired with him. Actor Arya and actor Rakshit Shetty have made special appearances. Cinematography by Gopi Amarnath has been composed by Rajesh Murugesan of ‘Neram’ and ‘Premam’ fame. This movie is being prepared in the mystery thriller genre and is being produced by Mudra’s Film Factory, produced by Reshmi Simha and S. R. D. It has been produced at a huge cost by Ram Dalluri on behalf of the film company Entertainments.
The preview release of this film was held in Chennai. Producers Reshmi Simha, Ram Talluri, director Ramanan Purushottama, music director Rajesh Murugesan, additional script writer Ponnivalavan, actors Manikanda Prabhu, Sarath Ravi and hero Simha were present.
Producer Ram Talluri said, “I first met Simha while shooting with Ravi Teja. He worked on the set very simply, with no pretensions of being a National Award winning actor for best actor. Immediately after meeting him, I expressed my desire to work with you. He also agreed. A few months later, he contacted me and said, ‘There is a story. Ask’ he said. The next day a meeting took place at a hotel in Hyderabad. During that time the director, Simha, me and my son were there. The director continued to narrate the story. My son, who was the first viewer to listen to this story, after listening to the story said, ‘This is world class like an English film’. Because it is a new genre of film. A storytelling technique like this has never been seen before in any film. At that very moment I decided to make ‘Vasantha Mullai’. Is it commercial..? Non-commercial..? Crossing the boundary, this is a new genre of film. It will attract fans.
Reshmi Simha’s hard work surprised me. I am thankful to all the actors and technicians who made this movie. Although the shooting days are short, the film is three-and-a-half years in the making. I met its director Ramanan Purushottama through Facebook. After that he has prepared a story for me since 2014 and can we work together..! It came to know that the message had been sent. He asked, ‘Do you have any stories to make this the first work?’ I asked that. He told the story of the movie ‘Vasantha Mullai’ in just one sentence. I liked it. I immediately contacted the producer Ram Talluri and narrated the story and synopsis. He also liked the story. At the same time Reshmi also liked this story.
Then we started working on the screenplay of the film. Very compelling screenplay. Even if you fail to see a scene 20 minutes after the start of the movie, it can be confusing. Because this movie has a new kind of emotional content.
A commercial film could be offered with the help of producer Ram Thaluri. But there was hope that the innovative thing could be told elegantly. So we have created ‘Vasantha Mullai’.
Since it is a one-night story, we planned to shoot directly in the hilly areas like Munnar in November and December. But the scene should be drenched in rain all night. As this was not practically possible, we set up a huge stage in Chennai and shot it. After setting up the stadium, due to the corona virus, it became impossible to shoot in the stadium. Then we re-arranged the venue and shot. This caused a delay. Now all the work is completed and it will hit the theaters on February 10th. I request everyone to support him.”
