Institute of Hotel Management, Chennai was established by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in the year 1963. It is one of the oldest and most renowned institutions of India. The Institute celebrates different festivals to showcase the secularism and to promote the nations culture . One of the most popular festival celebrated in this institute is the grand food festival. It is celebrated annually, where everyone from the ihm family unites together and make it aa tremendous hit event .
This event is about celebrating different cuisines, and empowering students to unleash their hidden talent. It is a great platform for students from different departments to show and implement what they have learned for the past years. This is a proud moment for not only students but the faculties as well.
This evening is usually filled with music, dance, cuisine and loads of joy.
2023 is declared to be the International year of millets, by the United Nations. Keeping this in mind IHM Chennai is promoting the production and consumption of millets with great emphasis on the culture of Kashmir, in the name of ‘Man Vasanai’.
The Institute is going to serve 60 dishes as its celebrating the 60th anniversary of IHM Chennai ‘Mann Vasanai’ literally translates to the fragrance of damp soil as the first rain hits the crops.
On 3rd of March 2023 Institute is organizing this year’s food festival ‘Mann Vasanai’. Apart from food production, all other divisions of Hospitality like Food and beverage service, front office and Housekeeping are working together to make this happen. It provides a rare opportunity to experience management skills as it is handled by students.
