How many more films are we all destined to see on the screen that deliberate on the violence, bloodshed and mayhem of North Madras which is now Chennai is a billion dollar question!

Yet, what matters most is the manner in which the screenplay is devised, designed and presented. In that count, this debutante director has dared to be different despite violent excesses, here and there, if not wholesomely!

In his very first film, lead hero Vijayakumar played a school boy and,.appears to have developed a crush to continue that hangover!

Karthikeyan Santhanam playing Benjamin is the surprise package of this flick and his effortless ease appears contagious!

Avinash as the scheming Joseph and Shankar as the double crossing Kiruba are adequate.

But Monisha cuts a sorry figure mainly owing to lack of scope!

Govind Vasantha’ s background score is upbeat.

Leon Britto’ s scintillating background score and the taut editing of Kripakaran deserve definite mention.

The sarcasm on conversions in slums is enjoyable.

The oft repeated theme dwells deep into gang wars in slums backed by political aspirations which demands no further explanation!
