Actress Vani Bhojan has now shared about her experiences of acting in this film.
“When director Subburaman first told the story of this film, he said that he is playing the role of a mother to Chinna Pasam. But then when Krithik, who played my son, came and stood there, he was bigger than me. But listening to the story was very interesting. Whereas the director who told the story till the break never told me the rest of the story. No matter how persuasive I was, he managed to tell me that I can watch the shoot, buy it ma’am. When asked not to let it go, he said to think for yourself how the story will go after the break. So my curiosity was heightened as to what the story would be like after the break.
In that way, I agreed to this film on the sole basis of my belief in the story, leaving aside whether I am playing a mother or a grandmother. Apart from that, when I came to know that Vidharth is acting in this film, I am even more confident because of course he chooses only good stories and acts.
The story of this film revolves around the NEET exam. Earlier, the Bengalam web series that I acted in was entirely about politics. I played the role of a politician in it. This film is also based on a topic that is constantly creating a stir in politics. When I see stories like this happen to me, I think maybe my zodiac sign is like that. I am not very interested in joining politics. At the same time, why do they talk about it as a big deal only when women enter politics? When I was asked if I would enter politics when the Sengalam web series was released, I said yes. But my father was shocked that why did you say yes to me. When a man says the same thing, he doesn’t take it seriously. If a woman says this, they start asking why she should join politics. That makes me say yes in many places. Anyone who wants to do good can join politics. Perhaps if I enter politics I will bring free education first.
As the film is based on a true incident, it had a great impact on us while acting in it. In one scene in particular, Vidhart was missing when he was looking for the next shot. It was later revealed that he had gone to the bathroom and was crying. To that extent the scenes affect the character. In one scene I had to beat the boy who played my son. The director said really hit it. But the boy’s mother stood a little away and was shocked to see this. So I kept the stick and hit it slowly. But he said that it doesn’t matter if the boy or the sister is in pain. When we see others acting with us, even if we are children, we also want to act real, and a healthy competition comes to them too.
I had no idea that playing the role of mother would affect my image. As far as I am concerned, if I am acting in a film, after the release of that film, the fans will expect what kind of acting Vaani is going to do after this, right? I like it a lot.. I like and choose films that prove me as an actor. I firmly believe that this ‘Anjaamai’ is one such film
