Actor Sivakarthikeyan said, “I first saw the film ‘Koozhangal’. It was hard to understand. I haven’t seen much world cinema. Films for debut directors are selected at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Christopher Nolan has previously won an award at the ceremony for his film. I was shocked when I heard that Vinodraj won the award for ‘Koozhangal’. I told him that I am making his next film to celebrate Vinodraj. If this film is successful and I get profit as I have invested, I will take it first and give it as an advance for director Vinod’s next film. If I get some more profit, I will give advance money to two directors like Vinod to make the film. I see this as a small contribution I can make to this cinema that gave me life.
I watched a lot of movies when I was in college. I grew up watching the films of Balaji Sakthivel and Gautham Menon. I am watching the movie ‘Kottukkali’ as a tribute to them.
