Mountain people’s song composed for the film ‘Kevi’ in the voice of Denisai Thenaral Deva in the lyrics of poet Vairamuthu
The film ‘Kevi’ is being prepared by ARTUPTRIANGLES FILM KAMPANY. Directed by director Tamil Dayalan, the film features debutant Aadhavan as the lead character and Sheela Rajkumar of ‘Mandela’ and ‘ToLet’ fame as the female lead. Vijay TV Jacqueline, Charles Vinod, Chidambaram Shankarapandian, Dharmadurai Jeeva, Vivek Mohan and Umar Farooq in lead roles.
The film revolves around a village called Kevi located in the Kodaikanal hills, focusing on the life of the hill people living in that area. Debutant composer G. Balasubramanian has composed the music for this film.
In an important scene of the film, to tell the lifestyle of the people living in the plot,
“Ma malaiye – enga malai samiye om madili – enga usuru ketakute
Will this lost caste survive even for me?
Can the thorn in the bamboo tree ripen?”
Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu has written an opening song. This song is sung by music composer Thenishai Theral Deva.
While the song has been recorded and not yet released, Kawiperarasu Vairamuthu, who was inspired by the song, shared the lyrics along with a video on his Twitter page.

He has expressed his happiness.
Talking about the way this song was created, director Tamil Dayalan says, “We thought that we should create a song that is suitable for this story and also tells the life of the entire hill people. Poet Emperor Vairamuthu gave wonderful lines for this. After writing this song, Vairamuthu said that it will be the anthem of the hill people. Accordingly, we asked Denisai Theral Deva to sing this song so that it would leave an impression on the listeners and make them think that one of us is singing it. He also sang this song in a completely different style.
We spent almost 110 days in Kodaikanal hills and shot this film. We can say that this film is our three years of penance. When this song is released, it will surely be well received by the fans as the anthem of the hill people,” he says.
