Writer Rangarajan who was employed in BEL, Bangalore, took to a female name, Sujatha(his wife ‘ s name!) when he started writing for Kumudham as there was already a person named Ra. Ki. Rangarajan was there.Likewise, the protagonist of his light hearted flick, Kayalvizhi takes to a pen name, Pandian as she holds the opinion that people will prefer her stories better if presented under a male name! The crux of the plot is opposing the compulsory thrusting of Hindi especially in Government of India sector!Being employed in a bank, she stiffly opposes Hindi though she claims that her objection is only towards making it compulsory! Also, the film speaks of male chauvinism and the extent to which she goes to put the person in place with whom she has been betrothed! No doubt, the scenes and sequences are funny but the basic premise of opposing Hindi which happened in the mid-sixties, especially in Tamilnadu looks irrelevant at this point time wherein everything has gone global!M. S. Bhaskar as the heroine ‘ s grandfather is just about okay but Devadarshini appearing as Keerthy ‘ s senior colleague at the bank looks like a caricature! The climax portions are far from being funny owing to its implausible nature!Sean Roldan ‘ s music pass muster. The period setting is noteworthy.
