Late director T. N. Balu’ s Sattam En Kayil (1978) was a highly successful commercial potboiler with Kamal Hassan in a dual role.
A mouth to mouth kissing scene was a sensational aspect of that flick, which created a big flutter in the late seventies!
Cut to the present, this flick which carries the same title with Sathish as the protagonist is a thriller with enough and more of twists and turns that manages to keep the audience guessing!
A cold blooded murder takes place in the dark of the night in the hilly terrains of Yercaud followed by the murder of that murderer!
A grand beginning that sets the scene for the thrills and chills to follow!
Comedian Sathish who has already graduated into a hero, leads the proceedings here as a victim of circumstances who is nabbed by the police on grounds of drunken driving as well as for manhandling a cop.
As the investigation of the dual murders unfold, many shocking facts unfold!
The screenplay takes a twist as the body of the murderer is found inside the trunk of Sathish’ s car!
The climax sequences have been planned and executed well.
Sathish is adequate as the protagonist.
Ajayraj is impressive as the investigating cop.
Vidya Pradeep has very limited scope.
The background score and cinematography add value to the racy narration.
A film that stands out as a decent thriller.
