Arunachalam Sakunthala, popularly known as CID Sakuntala, has made her mark in the film industry since 1960 as the female lead in more than 600 Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films and in various lead roles. He is famous for playing various roles across four generations in the film industry.
He left his mark in the history of Tamil cinema by shining in many characters that are still remembered today with many leading artists including People’s Thilak MGR, Actor Thilak Sivaji Ganesan, People’s Artist Thiru Jaishankar. He has the honor of attracting thousands of fans to theaters with his captivating dancing skills and acting ability.
He is forever in the hearts of his fans with his amazing performances in many hit movies like Kaithi Kannayiram, Sadapada Medhai, Awhara Lampu, CIT Shankar, Vasantha Majali, Tavapattullavan, Ponnoonchal, Abibhi, Rojavin Raja, Bhatchakarkaran, Imayam, Vandichakaram, New Ragam. He is a role model for the next generation of actors due to his loving attitude.
An esteemed member of the South Indian Actors Association and one of the notable veteran screenwriters, CID Sakunthala passed away on 17/09/2024, an irreparable loss to the South Indian Actors Association and our members. His memory and fame will forever live on in the hearts of the film industry and fans.
