”Dappankuthu” has brought street puppetry to the screen !!
”Dappankuthu” is a new film that reflects the lives of the folk artists of Madurai, produced by S. Jaganathan, directed by Director Muthuveera, presented by Modern Digitech Media LLP. The film crew met the press and media friends as it is about to hit the screens soon.
Speaking at the event, Director Muthuveera said….
We have shot the film focusing on the street puppetry arts happening around Madurai. The protagonist is a street puppet artist, and when the heroine desires street puppetry, the protagonist’s uncle puts a stop to it, and the story of this film is about what is the mystery about the protagonist’s mother. We have made this film to record the fact that rural arts are disappearing. Everyone should support us. Thank you.
Nayagan Sankarapandi spoke….
We have made this film focusing on folk arts. Street dance is still going on in villages. We have also participated a lot. Street dance is gradually disappearing during this time. I was worried that our arts would completely disappear. Once, when I saw street dance artists struggling for food, I was very, very sad. I was very happy when Jaganathan sir made a film like this to restore street dance in such a period. The opportunity to act in such a film is like a sugarcane harvest. Thank you to the producer and director for making this film after a long break after the film Karakattakaran. Thank you to Deena Master, who choreographed the film beautifully, and to all the actors and technicians. Please give your support to this film, which is an attempt to restore rural art.
Heroine Deepthi spoke….
We have all worked as a family in this film, there are many songs in this film, everyone will definitely like it. Even though I am a Punjabi, my father is settled here, I was born in Chennai, Chennai is everything to me. So it was easy to understand the rural culture in this film. I have worked with full dedication, you will definitely like it, thank you
Special invitee Director Arvindraj of Oomai Vizhigal fame, spoke…
In today’s society, it is a difficult thing for us to speak old Tamil. Music and songs are the life of Tamils, we used to separate these wonderful arts, Iyal Isai and Natak. Everything in our life is music and music. Everything in our culture is songs. When a child is born, there is a song, when he grows up, when he comes of age, when he sits, when he walks, when he walks, everything was filled with songs. All this has disappeared over time. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the producer of this film who made a good effort with the idea of recovering everything. We owe a debt of gratitude to this film crew who brought this wonderful work to the hearts of the people over time. They did not make a film, but everyone stayed in one place like a family and made this film. Even today in the West, there is a group called theater, and plays are still performed in theaters. That is why good efforts like this are being made. Everyone should give great support to this group that has made such an effort. It is the duty of journalists to bring this film to the people. We should do this as a charity for our Tamil language. The recent history is that small budget films with good storylines are running better than big budget films. So if you bring this to the people in a proper way, then surely this film will be a big hit. I would like to congratulate the hero and everyone who has made a full effort for it, Guna, the producer and our director. By the grace of God Almighty, this film should be a great success. On my behalf and on behalf of our team, I would like to say goodbye.
Pandi from Madurai is a dancer who conducts art shows. He and his group go to the villages around Madurai and conduct folk art shows. His maternal uncle Dharmalingam is a broker who books theater actors for art shows. Thanam from the same village decides to go and dance with Pandi. But Dharmalingam opposes Thanathai from joining Pandi’s group. This leads to a clash between Pandi and Dharmalingam. Dharmalingam asks why Thanam should not dance. What is the background of Thanam? Why Dharmalingam asks why she should not dance.. Thanam went on stage with Pandi.
