Deputy Chief Minister says Kamal Haasan will consider request
Chennai.,
The Cinema and Entertainment Industry Conference (MEBC – South Connect) organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) was held at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel in Guindy, Chennai.
Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin presided over the conference and addressed the event as a special guest. Mr. Kamal Haasan said that since the Tamil Nadu government is a government that listens to the demands of the industry and makes efforts to resolve them, I am using this platform to make a request on behalf of the film industry to which I belong. The film industry is suffering due to taxes like GST of the Central Government. When the entertainment tax of the State Government is added to this, it becomes a double taxation. He said that if the state government’s entertainment tax is abolished, it will be a relief for the Tamil film industry, which is facing various crises.
The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, who delivered the keynote address, mentioned in his speech that the artist’s request will be taken to the attention of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and considered. Apart from this, he also announced the Tamil Nadu government’s announcement to set up a residence for film artists on a 90-acre land in Panayur.
Mr. Kamal Haasan expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Tamil film industry for these announcements.
