Producer Prasad Prabhakar is the co-producer on behalf of Prasad Prabhakar Productions. The film is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures International
The preview launch of the film, which is scheduled to be released in theaters during the upcoming summer holidays, was held in Chennai. Daniel Balaji’s mother Mrs. Rajalakshmi attended the event as a special guest along with the film crew. Along with them, Kriya Tech founder-entrepreneur Baskaran, ‘MRT Music’ Murugan, ‘Sony Pictures International’ Siva, actor Sarukesh, actor Eeshwar Karthik, lyricist Giridhar Venkat, director Prasad Prabhakar, producer Kalpana Raghavendar and many others attended.
Producer Kalpana Raghavendar said, ”We consider this day to be a good day to release the preview of our film RPM. Today marks one year since the passing of actor Daniel Balaji. His mother Rajalakshmi Amma has come here as a special guest. I would not have invited anyone else as a special guest. I thank her for coming here and making it special.
The film’s director Prasad Prabhakar met actor Daniel Balaji and held talks, and as the work on the film began.. I met Daniel Balaji via video to thank him for agreeing to act in our production company. In that meeting, he said that I had met you on stage before as a singer. During that meeting, he asked, ‘Will you sing the song I want?’. Listen to that song. I said that if I know, I will definitely sing it immediately. He asked me to sing the song ‘Kannana Poo Magane Kannurangu Suriyane..’ sung by P. Susila Amma in the movie ‘Tanneri Tanneri’ with music by M. S. Viswanathan. I had heard that song. But I apologized for not being able to sing it at that moment due to lack of sufficient practice. I also said that I would come and sing that song in person after getting practice.
He asked if he could sing the song ‘Singara Velane’! I immediately sang that song and showed it through that video.
He is very talented. There is no alternative opinion on this. He knows the nuances of cinema… acting skills… how to share the screen presence with his fellow actors, and how to captivate the audience with his acting during his screen presence.
He has mostly played negative characters. His eyes are a plus for that.
Despite being a great actor, he was simple in real life. This gave me a big surprise.
After that, I practiced and sang the favorite song he heard and sent it as a voice message. I want to sing that song here. The lyrics for this song are suitable for that soul that has passed away from us.
The demise of artists like Daniel Balaji, who have a place in the hearts of people, is a great loss. He would have shown his best performance in any role he played.
While working on this film, I talked to his co-stars Easwar Karthik, Sarukesh, Babu, and Muthu for a long time. This will be my last film with them. He has said that after this, he is going to fully engage in spirituality.
There are two things to mention about him. I have acted in a couple of films when I was young. Due to my love for singing, I became a singer and focused on singing. I was not confident when I acted in this film. As soon as I arrived on the set for the first day,
I met Neil Balaji and made a request to you. I asked him to allow me to watch you act. He agreed. As soon as the director said ‘action’, I was amazed to see him transform into the character and perform.
This is the first film for actor Easwar Karthik and actress Daya Prasad Prabhakar, who are acting in this film. When both of them attended the first day of shooting, they were nervous after seeing Daniel Balaji. At that time, they should not be afraid when acting with him. He told me that I am not Daniel Balaji when acting here. It is just that character and gave me confidence and made me act. The encouragement he gave to the new artists gave me confidence too.
RPM is a suspense thriller film. Director Prasad Prabhakar and the entire film crew have worked perfectly and made it happen. I request everyone’s support for this film,” he said.
Daniel Balaji’s mother Rajalakshmi said, “Daniel Balaji was very pious even when he was a little child. He has been pious since the age of three. When he returned home from school, he would buy coconuts, fruits, flowers and walk. He would not come by bus.
He had this habit even after going to college. He even spent the money he earned on the temple.
The film he acted in. Everyone should watch this and bless him.
Gautham Menon and Balaji all studied together. Initially, he was not interested in acting. It came later. At first, they said no to his father. Then, after watching the film ‘Vettaiyaadu Vidaadu’, he became happy. He always…does what he wants.
Five days ago, he said that all his property belongs to his younger brother. I listened to his speeches at the last stage. When I gave him a speech, he said, ‘I will not stay!!’ He said. While I was still there… he was not there!! The feeling of missing him is still in my mind,” he said.
Educationist – researcher – businessman Baskaran said, ”When I was studying in college, I used to watch two movies a week. After that, I would watch movies in my free time when I traveled abroad for work. After starting my career, watching movies became rare. But it was when I went abroad and talked to the Tamils there that I understood the power of cinema.
If Tamil is spoken in Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore, the main reason is cinema. Because there is no Tamil in school education there.
Even in America, our people have been studying in Tamil for the last 20 years. If Tamils outside Tamil Nadu speak Tamil today, it is because of watching movies. They do not learn Tamil by reading books. When I meet my friends in Africa, they speak Tamil.
The reason why I am saying this is… Although on one hand Tamil films speak controversially… on the other hand, what they are doing to the society is teaching Tamil.
In a temple in Indonesia, a little girl sang a song of Lord Murugan beautifully. The girl is a fifth-generation girl from that country. The girl does not know Tamil. But she sings beautifully in Tamil. She does not know the meaning of the song. But she has been taught that song for generations.
Cinema should be watched to instill interest in the language. If you ask her to read the book, she will refuse.
At that moment, I would like to make a humble request to the filmmakers. Reduce the violence in your film a little.
Tamils are in 70, 80 countries all over the world. They speak the language only after watching films made in Tamil Nadu.
I wish this film success. I request everyone’s blessings and support for this film,” he said.
Speaking, director Prasad Prabhakar said, ”Sony Pictures International, which released a successful film like Amaran, is releasing this RPM film as a Pan-Indian film. I thank them for this.
It has been more than a year and a half since the release of the film starring Daniel Balaji. I have made him act very quietly in this film.
He has a director in him. He has a writer in him. He has a production controller in him. He has everything for a cinema. He cannot be fooled. Every time he acts in a scene, he listens to the entire background of that scene. He listens to what state of mind I should be in when acting in a particular scene. Only then will it help me to absorb the feeling of that character and act. Every minute I worked with him is unforgettable.
He will be our presence. We will talk a lot about him only when he is not there. Daniel Balaji is that kind of person.
This film in which he acted has done well. His blessings will be for this film. I request the fans to also support this film,” he said.
