‘Sembiyan Madevi’ is a film produced by Padmanaban Loganathan under 8 Studios Film Productions, written, directed, composed and starred Loga Padmanaban. The film, which focuses on caste discrimination in society, was released in theaters on August 30, 2024. The film, which received a huge response from critics and fans, did not achieve the expected commercial success. The reason is that when the film was released, a leading director’s film released by a major production company did not have enough theaters. However, the plot and the concept of the film were highly appreciated not only by the journalists but also by the people who saw the film.
In this situation, Raj Digital TV, the OTT subsidiary of one of the leading Tamil television channels, Raj TV, is going to stream the film ‘Sembiyan Madhevi’ worldwide from March 28th. Especially, since ‘Sembiyan Madhevi’ is being released with scenes and dialogues deleted by the censor board, this is a great opportunity for those who missed the movie in the theater and those who did not see it in the theater to watch the movie again with the scenes that were not seen in the theater.

Loga Padmanabhan, in response to the question, said, “Yes, we are re-uniting all the scenes and dialogues that were removed by the censor board and releasing them on OTT. When you watch the film, you will know what dialogue, scene it is and the impact it can have. The film was 2 hours and 20 minutes long. They asked us to mute some words. But since it is a regional language, it is better if it is accompanied by a story.
It will be, and no matter how much we tried to say that removing it would change the nature of the story, it was not allowed. Now we are releasing the film by including it. To the question, will your next venture be as a hero or a director? “I usually work as an assistant director. I have been working as an assistant director since 2009. At that time, the assistant directors who worked with me asked me to direct a film, rather than looking for a new hero, to play the hero in a film that I have already played. So far, I have played the hero in four films. Announcements for the release of those films will be released soon. My next venture is as a director. I am going to direct a film with a leading hero. The production team will make an announcement for that soon.” He said.
Why did you make a film about caste in the first film? He replied, “It is not a caste film, I have not mentioned anywhere that these people are this caste, they are that caste. The film will be with general ideas. I have directed it as a film for the society. I did not come to Chennai to become an actor. The reason I came to Chennai from a village near Cuddalore was to become a singer. While I was studying in a music college in Chennai, I got the opportunity to be an assistant director. On one hand, I was working as an assistant director in the music college and on the other hand. When I was directing the film, I decided to act because of the budget. If I could not pay the salaries of other heroes, I had to play the hero myself. The same thing happened when I produced the film, because someone else was producing it and he did not have the money, so I had to produce it myself. I wanted the first film to be a film for the society. That is why I directed this film based on an incident that happened in the society. The next film I direct will also be a work for the society. But there will be no matter about caste in it. It will be a commercial film for the society.” He said.
Also, although we could not get the amount invested in the film ‘Sembiyan Madevi’ in terms of collection, I am satisfied that we made a good film with the appreciation of the journalists and the reception of the fans. Now, I am confident that our film will also receive financial support through Raj TV OTT.
