Curtains down at the 21st Chennai International Film Festival organized by Indo Cine Appreciation Forum in collaboration with PVR – INOX.
About 126 movies from about 57 countries were screened at the Film Festival.
Sri. S. Kannan, President of ICAF and Sri. E. Thangaraj, General Secretary, ICAF and Festival Director left no stone unturned in showcasing the best among the bests of films most of which were recognized and rewarded at multi – various Film Festival circuits wide across the length and breadth of the globe!
Libertate, a Romanian film earned its maker, Tudor Glurgiu, Best World Cinema Feature Film Award.
Agreste, a Brazilian film bagged the 2nd Best Film Award under the World Cinema Category.
Nine Awards were given under the Tamil Films category out of the twelve films category.
Actor Vadivelu bagged the Best Actor Award for his sterling performance in Mari Selvaraj ‘ s Maamannan.
Vetrimaaran received the Special Jury Award for Viduthalai.
Manthira Moorthy’ s Ayodhi as the Best Tamil film followed by Karthik Seenivasan’ s Udanpal stood second!
Under the World Cinema category,
Footprints on Water and Act Natural received mentions by the Special Jury.
In all, this year’s Festival offered a good number of worthwhile flicks and the viewers were treated to a feast of films…
