Banaras’ is a sacred romantic epic by Kasi

‘Banaras’ is a different time line love story

“Kannada films that were made on very small budgets have grown into pan-India films and I feel very proud to think that they are doing well in India,” said Ravichandran, a superstar of Kannada film industry.

Following the super hits of ‘KGF’, ‘KGF 2’ and ‘777’ Charlie, Kannada films are gaining popularity in India. The next in line is the highly anticipated film ‘Banaras’.

Directed by Jayathirtha, who has directed the super hit films ‘Beautiful Manasukulu’ and ‘Belbottom’, the film stars Zayid Khan as the hero opposite Sonal Monteiro. The cinematography of the film is directed by Advaita Gurumurthy and the music is composed by Ajaneesh Loknath.

The grand trailer launch of the film was held in Bengaluru. Popular Kannada superstar Ravichandran, actor Salman Khan’s brother Arbaaz Khan, Banaras producer Thilakraj Pallal, hero Zayid Khan, heroine Sonal Monteiro and many others attended the event.

At the beginning of the event, actor Ravichandran, who released the trailer of ‘Banaras’, said, ‘Recently, Kannada cinema has been successful both in India and around the world. It is clear from the trailer that this Banaras film will also be a huge success. I am proud to participate in this event,” he said.

Producer Thilakraj Pallal said, ‘When I left home for the event, my wife advised me not to be emotional during the ceremony. But I could not control such feelings. The reason is that this film is a film that talks about emotions.”

Actress Sonal Monteiro said, “Though I have acted in about 10 films before this, this is the most important film of my life. I thank the director from the bottom of my heart for giving me this opportunity. I have no regrets about only the hero’s name being highlighted in the ad designs. Since this is his first film, there is no mistake in promoting him a little more.

Director Jayathirtha said, “I have directed 7 films so far. Every time I have come up with a new genre of stories. So I don’t have permanent fans. This film ‘Banaras’ is one such completely non-genre film. It is a timeline love story. We have brought all the beauty of Kasi in the film. As this is a universal subject, the film has all the merits to become a pan India film,’ he said.

Banaras Nayan Zayed Khan spoke next, “Since I am a child of a political family, there was strong opposition at home to join the film industry. Especially my father strongly opposed my entry into cinema. I have come here after being convinced by his close friends. I have worked hard to get to this place. I never slept more than four to six hours for the last three years!

We came here to shoot only a few scenes of the film in Kashi and match the rest in other locations. But inspired by some of the exotic places in Khasi, we have completed the whole picture here. On one side of the shoot we were shooting a love scene and on the other side they were burning hundreds of corpses. See how paradoxical the phenomenon is. But that’s what happened. For me, this film ‘Banaras’ is a love story mixed with the sanctity of Kasi.”

Banaras will hit theatres worldwide on November 4 in Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi!
