Ponniyin Selvan, a historical novel by Amarar Kalki, has been made into a two-part film of the same name, produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, directed by Mani Ratnam – the first part of which released worldwide on 30 September. In this case, the global hero Kamal Haasan visited Ponniyin Selvan with the film crew in Chennai.
