Cube Company vs. Guna Re-release – Pyramid Group Prepares for Action

Producers and distributors were the deciding force when it was screened in cinema film format. Digital companies that had nothing to do with the investment of the film began to dominate after the shift from film format to digital format in theaters. Although the original copy of the film is with the producers, the film can be screened in theaters through companies like Cube, Sony, DSR, which keep it in their digital storage. As a result, film owners and negative rights holders of the film have been put in the position of employees waiting for the orders of the employer from the Cube company. Such a situation has happened to Pyramid Group, which holds the theatrical rights of the 1991 movie Guna starring actor Kamal Haasan. As a result, information has come out that Pyramid Group has taken legal action against Cube Digital.
One of the sayings spoken daily in the villages is that even if Sami gives boon, Pujari will not give boon. A similar situation has happened to Pyramid Group, which is re-releasing the 1991 film Guna starring actor Kamal Haasan. Cube, which has the technology to screen films digitally in theaters, could not release Guna on June 21 as planned by Pyramid Group, Tamilcinema said.
In the area.

Directed by Santana Bharthi, Guna was released on Diwali in 1991.
In the film Guna, composed by Ilayaraja, with lyrics by Balakumaran and cinematography by Venu
Kamal Haasan, Roshini,
Rekha, Janakaraj, Ajayratnam,
S. Varalakshmi, Girish Karnad,
S. B. Balasubramaniam,
Sarath Saxena,
Kaka Radhakrishnan, Pradeep Sakthi and Ananthu have acted. The songs written by Vali are sung by Kamal Haasan, S. Janaki, Ilayaraja, Yesudas. Produced by Swathi Chitra International, the film was released worldwide by Rajkamal Films International. The success of Manju Mel Boys is proof that even after 33 years, not only Kamal Haasan fans but also the younger generation of today’s fans are reminiscing and celebrating Guna, the dialogues and songs featured in it.

The Malayalam film Manjummel Boys opened in theaters from city to hamlet in Tamil Nadu earlier this year and was a box office hit. It was said that one of the main factors behind making the Malayalam film the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 200 crore was the use of dialogues and songs from the film Guna.
Due to this, Kamal Haasan fans have been demanding on social media that the film Guna should be re-released in theatres. The negative rights of Guna were held by Pyramid Group and they announced a worldwide release on June 21 in an enhanced digital format as they had exclusive theatrical release rights. It is said that the film was not released on June 21 as Cube Company, which screens films digitally, refused to broadcast the film in the context of the completion of the preliminary work and the completion of contract work with theaters. Based on the negative rights document, the document issued by Prasad Film Laboratory to Pyramid clearly stated that it has the right to release the feature in theatres. But Cube says the company doesn’t refer to it as ‘theatrical’. At the same time, it is said that Cube company is maintaining a conflicting position in telecasting Guna film in theaters as they have asked Pyramid Group to give them the rights to screen Guna film abroad and there is no restriction. It is also said that they are refusing to give a written reason for refusing to air the film in Tamil Nadu. Due to this, the worldwide release of Guna is being delayed by Cube, according to Pyramid Group sources. As usual, when the discussion in this regard was held in the distributors’ association, Kanshiram, who sent a letter to Cube stating that he has the theatrical rights of Guna, did not provide the relevant document. Chennai Chengalpattu Kanchipuram district distributors are said to be pressurizing Sangam Cube not to allow the screening of Guna because of their association membership. Thus, in order to confirm their rights, Pyramid Group has initiated legal action against Cube, which is blocking the re-release of Guna by giving false reasons in connection with not accepting the contract.
