The film ‘Mathagajaraja’, released for the Pongal festival, has demonstrated that.
Directed by Sundar.C, the film ‘Madhagajaraja’ (MGR), produced by the traditional Gemini Films circuit in the company of Vishal, Santhanam, Anjali, Varalaxmi, Vijay Antony (music) and others, has overcome many obstacles and has come late, but it has been released as the latest and is running as the number 1 horse in this Pongal race. In this way, it can be said that the film ‘Madhagajaraja’ has become a real Pongal celebration for the public.
The ‘Madhagajaraja’ film team held a meeting at the Green Park Hotel in Chennai today to thank the fans, the press, the media, and social media, who have continuously supported the film and made it a success since the day the film was announced 13 years ago.

“As far as I know, I have never held a success meet for any of my films. After the release of my last film, including the Hi-Fi film #Aranmanai4, I would move on to the next film. But this film has given me a joy that surpasses all that. This is special compared to other films. Some in the film industry even said that this film is coming after 13 years, what a great achievement it is going to achieve. But people had faith in this film. Because the response we got from the fans when we announced this film was immense. I would like to express my gratitude to the producer Manohar Prasad, Tirupur Subramaniam, who saw this film and made efforts to release it. AC Shanmugam. ACS Arunkumar. Madhan and many others who supported me at this time.
I believed that this film would be a success. But when 99 percent of the people who watched the film said that it was good, I did not know what to say. All I could give them back was my gratitude and a few tears. Thanks to Manivannan sir, Manobala, and the heroines of this film, Anjali and Varalakshmi, who are still the dream girls of the fans even after 13 years. Varalakshmi came into this film at the last minute. Initially, another heroine was supposed to act. But due to some reasons, she could only come a week later. On the first day, I suddenly called Varalakshmi and told her about it, and she left immediately. Anjali is a zodiac heroine who has acted in two of my super hit films, Kalakalappu and Madagajaraja. Heroes like Karthik and Vishal trust me completely and entrust themselves to me. It is difficult for a heroine to entrust herself like that. But Anjali is an actress who trusts the director and entrusts herself like that.
Santhanam and I have worked in many of my films. She reserved a call seat for 40 days for this film. They say that the film will be better after 13 years. But many people say that the songs and background music are also of the same brush. Not only the songs, but also the background music for the hero, the background music for the comedy, I can say that this is the best of my films. Thanks to Vijay Antony for that.
I tortured Vijay Antony and worked for five days to create the song Thombaiku Thombai in this film. But I was sad that the song was not well received when it was released. But now that I see it, the song has reached a huge audience. We had taken pure Tamil words from a book written by Vanamamalai and used them in it. Similarly, the interesting thing is that the song Sikkupukkhu Rayilu Vandi was included in it. While talking to Vijay Antony, he played the song that he had created for another film but they said no to. It was amazing. I bought it and said that I will use it. Now it has become such a big hit that there is no place in every festival where this song is not played.
As the saying goes, good people are good people, Gemini Pictures helped with whatever they asked for in this film without interfering in any matter. I want Gemini Pictures to fly its flag again through this Madagajaraja. Vishal has gone through a lot of hardships for this film. In his efforts to keep his body in shape, he fainted in the car. Vishal’s work is also a great example of how if we give our full effort sincerely and honestly, people will return our love. Vishal’s market has not had any problems till now. But the success of this film has been a great medicine for my brother Vishal.
I am a very ardent fan of MGR. When I wake up in the morning, if I see his photo or poster somewhere or if I hear his song somewhere, I feel happy for the whole day/ I have such a sentiment/ I have received his blessings and luck for naming this film after him.”

“One day something comes in the newspaper.. the next day they forget.. but Vishal’s trembling reached the world and Vishal should be fine, Vishal should recover, what is wrong with Vishal’s health, they have never seen Vishal like this before. Doctors, judges, IAS IPS officers, Income Tax officers and many others from foreign countries kept asking him kindly. When I finished attending that event that day, I realized how many people love me, even those who didn’t love me started loving me, even those who didn’t like me started liking me. The doctors advised me not to attend that event, citing my health condition, saying that you have a high fever of more than 103 degrees. But the reason I was stubborn and went for this event was because of director Sundar C.
He gave me so much encouragement every year when we talked about this film in these 12 years. I came to this event for him. After Sandakozhi, the film I was looking forward to the most was Madagajaraja. Even music composer Vijay Antony encouraged me that this film would definitely be released. After 12 years, a film will come out and become a mega blockbuster. The reason is that people are ignoring films that have not been released for four or five years. I think that even if God delays this, he has made this film release during this 9-day festive holiday season by saying that you should do other films and I will give you a good time.
Vishal has become addicted to drugs. Many people have created many stories in their imaginary world like nervous breakdown. You can always contact me and ask me what is the truth and publish it. But one good thing about this is that I have been able to know how many people love me. I am afraid of going to the hospital and the doctor. But acting in Sundar. C sir’s films means that I will recover quickly physically and mentally. I will be happy. Acting in Sundar C’s films is like a medicine. It is not normal for a director to stay in the film industry for 30 years.
We are very close as a family with producer Manohar Prasad. It has been a long time since I saw such a smile on his face. A total of 8000 people watched it in one day in Devi Theater across four theaters. You should come back to this film industry with full force. Producers like you should come. They do not pay any GST, TDS.. They keep salary arrears.. They make us do the promotion ourselves. If there are producers like you, actors like us are ready to work with our lives.
In the meantime, my guru Vijay Antony has made me sing all Carnatic music and has even said that he will make me sing in a live concert tomorrow where 40 thousand people will participate. I don’t know how he comes up with all this. In 1994, when we were studying in college, we both composed songs. Then in 2013, we composed an original for this film.
Venkat is a great strength as a writer of this film. There are many writers in Malayalam. There are few in Tamil. He has been a pillar for the success of this film. Varalakshmi, my dear friend for so many years, is as fresh as if she had kept something in the fridge. Even though we have done only one film, we interact as if we were friends studying in college. I have faced many problems and obstacles. But I never have the habit of crying. I stand in front of the mirror and talk. I tell myself that I can overcome anything and give myself courage. But for the first time, I was moved to tears when I saw a scene in the film Hanuman where Varalakshmi acted and the applause that the audience got for it in the theater.
Not only in the media but also on social media, if there is a film that has been supported in recent times, it is the film Madagajaraja. I knew how dry people are from the way they enjoyed that non-stop 20-minute comedy scene in this film. I thank Santhanam. Our combination is always rocking. Everyone says there is a void, as they say, it would be good if Santhanam comes back as a vintage comedian in at least a few films,” he said.
Next, I am going to work with director Gautham Menon in a film. Ajay Gnanamuthu has a film in the pipeline, including Thupparivaalan 2. I am looking forward to working with Sundarsi again.
