All heroes are becoming villains: Director S. A. Chandrasekhar speaks!
Director S. A. Chandrasekhar spoke at the Kooran film festival that all heroes are becoming villains. Here are the details:
The film ‘Kooran’ is based on the legal rights struggle for a dog. The film features S.A. Chandrasekhar, Y. G. Mahendran, Sathyan, Balaji Sakthivel, George Marian, Indraja Robo Shankar and others. The film is directed by debutant director Nitin Vemupathi.
Martin Dhanraj has handled the cinematography.
Siddharth Vipin has composed the music. P. Lenin has supervised the editing.
Director Vicky has produced the film in association with VP Combines on behalf of Kanaa Productions.
The trailer launch of the film ‘Kooran’ was held in Chennai.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director S. . Chandrasekaran said,
A line that is usually heard and heard at every film festival. This is a different film. A film that you have never seen before. You must have heard these words from everyone. But in my 45 years of film career, this is a truly different film. This is a story that I can honestly say is truly different.
It is a different film in many ways.
The protagonist in this film is a dog. A film that takes revenge on a fly has become a big hit. You have seen a successful film in which an elephant takes revenge, a successful film in which a snake takes revenge. In this, a dog takes revenge on a human.
It goes all the way to the court to fight its fight. This is a difference.
Second,
In this film, there is no hero, no heroine, no duet. No dance.
If you look at all the actors in this, the dog, I am an 80-year-old man, Y.G. Mahendran is my age. All the actors in this are old. That’s a difference.
Everyone talked about me. It’s a gift from God. I keep running, I have to keep moving. I keep my mind happy. I don’t put anything as a burden on my head. I have to keep working till the end. I have to keep working. The people around me are helping me. When I come to the office, I want everyone to be there. Even if there is no work, I will be talking to everyone. I will be doing something.
Because I don’t want to sit at home. I will come to the office at 9:00 in the morning, not wanting to live in a wheelchair.
Only those related to our film are on stage at this event.
We went to Kodaikanal in the cold of January. That was an unforgettable experience. We were shivering and when the shooting started, all that went away.
I have never had a fever in all these years. It only happened when I went there. But if I go to the shooting location, everything will go away. I went there with that belief. They made me bathe in water as they said, and the fever went away.
Illness is what our mind thinks.
If we take life easy, it can be good till the end. There is some message in all my films. I liked it as soon as I heard this story. A dog goes to court. That was new. Out of seventy films, I have shot fifty films as if a human has gone to court. I did not shoot it as if a dog or a cat had gone. That was new.
Those who watch this film can relate to themselves.
Directors Aamir and Parthiban have seen this film. Maneka Gandhi has seen it from Delhi. Everyone did not get up immediately after watching the film, they were in tears.
In films, the writer creates the character of the protagonist. Here we celebrate the actors.
.Directors should be celebrated as much as the protagonist. They should have a sense of responsibility to give a good film.
It is difficult when watching some films.
The characters created by the writer should be a pioneer. That character should be an example to live like this. If someone who watches a film that says, “Take a knife and cut off your head,” and then goes out and takes a knife and cuts off your hand and head, what will happen to the younger generation?
We need that sense of responsibility. Cinema is not ordinary. There is no knife in this film; there is no blood; there is no gunfire; but there is a powerful thing. We have said it emotionally and realistically, without saying it loudly.
Some good films are being made now. I am not saying that is wrong. But there should be films that change the mind of at least one person when a hundred people come to see the film. This is a film without violence. Yet it is a powerful film. Did we gain freedom in a non-violent way? It was Gandhi’s non-violence that drove away the white man.
There was a time when they said that a villain would be like this.
He will rape, murder, and kill 10 people. That’s how it was. Now the heroes do all that. It’s not clear who is the villain and who is the hero. How should we take the youth who watch the film?
The child kills the mother. The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law also kill the child. They kill the father. There is no other weapon as terrible as cinema. If we do it right, we can reform this society.
Directors and writers need that sense of responsibility, duty, and social consciousness.
I have been acting in some films for ten years. This is a film that has satisfied me. I have enjoyed it.
A film that makes you sit and watch for two hours beautifully.
It was supposed to be a three-hour film, but the editor made it two hours and 20 minutes. Lenin sir saw the film and removed ten scenes from it and reduced twenty minutes. The film is only two hours long. It is that elegant.
We have made this film like a family.
The only superstar in it is that Bhairava dog. We are all just spare flowers, supporting actors. Everyone who has acted in it, including me, will get a good name.” Thus spoke director SA Chandrasekhar.
The entire film crew attended the ceremony.
Justice will be served with Twists & Thrills
