M/s. Vertical Law Cinemas & Tree Productions, directed by Kuzhandhai Vellappan, starring Bhatkal Velappan, Narmada Balu and Kavita Bharathi, is a short vertical web series ‘Yugam’. Its press meet was held.

Writer Rajesh Khanna, “This story is a new attempt. This is a real family film. This story shows a new world. We need your support”.

Editor Sabu, “Kuzhandhai Vellappan was the first person who believed that I would become an editor in cinema. We have such a good friendship. This is the script to make a film vertically. We have overcome many challenges to make the film. Congratulations on the success of Kuzhandhai Vellappan!”.

Music composer Jovan said, “Kuzhandhai Vellappan is an easy director to work with. When it comes to vertical cinema, you may think that the whole thing will not come on screen. But, the story will captivate you to the point that you don’t have that thought.”

Music composer Melvin said, “This era is all about the collective effort of all of us, the series is teamwork. Kundanthai Velappan is a clear director. Congratulations on the success of the story.”

Director Kuzhandhai Velappan’s wife, actress Narmada, said, “I have been traveling with him for many years. I have seen his failures. This is a story that both of us have created so that we can succeed together. His friends have supported him more than me. Please support the story too.”

Actor Guru Somasundaram said, “I started watching this story without any expectations. It was very interesting. It is difficult for two actors to shoot a film in the same location. They have given this story a new attempt vertically. There is no such thing as success or failure in art. You have to keep trying. Now the opportunities to shoot a film are increasing. The field to watch it has also increased. So we do not have to travel only towards success.”

Millennium Movies Datto Sivam said, “Congratulations to the producer and the entire crew for encouraging this new attempt. This story will definitely be successful”.

Cinematographer Theni Easwar said, “I am someone who looks at every minute of life from a wide angle. But this story was vertical, like watching it from the window of a house. This story is proof that many new things can be done in cinema. My congratulations to all the crew”.

Actor Harikrishnan said, “I kept asking to work with Velappan sir. One day he called me and showed me that he had shot this story vertically. It was very surprising. Congratulations on the success of the film”.

Director Nalan Kumarasamy said, “When I heard about vertical cinema, it was innovative. It was a challenge to change the angles that we had not taken so far. Now everyone uses mobile phones a lot. So, I must say that this is a new beginning in cinema. In the future, more such vertical stories may be shot. Congratulations to the ‘Yugam’ team”.

Director and actor Kakkar Velappan said, “This Vettigal idea is a concept of how to monetize the laziness of the generations to come, who are too lazy to even turn on their mobile phones.” At the Cannes Film Festival that I recently attended, there was a discussion that Vertigal cinema will be inevitable in the future, and participating in it was the reason for taking up this web series. No matter what format it is, the way the story is told will make it enjoyable. Initially, when I told this story, many people did not understand it. But when I wrote it and gave it to them, they understood and encouraged me. There were some challenges waiting for the film, and the entire team worked together to make the film, understanding that and learning some alternative methods with the cameraman Saravanan Ramasamy. We also sent it to film festivals held around the world for Vertical cinema. In that, I was very happy to receive the Best Vertical Film award in Toronto and Italy and my wife also received the Best Actress award for her performance in this film. Following that, we have started a YouTube channel called Vertigal La Cinemas and released it as a web series called ‘Yugam’, which can be watched in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. We are confident that it will take the audience’s enjoyment to the next level. We definitely need your support,” he said.
