Speaking about winning this award, actor Soundararaja said, “I have been acting in more than 50 films as an actor in the film industry for more than 15 years.
On the other hand, due to my love for nature and society, for the last 10 years I have been conducting many charity campaigns through the social welfare foundation “Mannukmu Jallakaram” with social interest.
In particular, when the Jallikattu protest started in 2017, I was one of the ten important people in the first phase. I was one of those who fought till the end. In addition, I have registered my voice on various public issues such as Sterlite, Neduvasal, NEET issue, atrocities against women, Cauvery water issue, and protests held in the capital Delhi in support of farmers.
Out of my love for the soil, I am continuously involved in field work to protect natural resources, protect water bodies, and plant and nurture trees. So far, more than 40,000 I have been planting and growing trees. Since April 2025, I have been presenting the “Mannukmu Jagalkum Nammalvar Award” and a prize money of Rs. 5,000 to honest organic farmers, choosing one district for six months.
Although I have received some awards in the cinema industry, I have received many awards as a social activist. Today, I was honored with the “Kalai Magan 2025” award at the Norwegian Tamil Film Awards held internationally for my artistic and social field work. I am proud that this award was received by the Mayor of Oslo, Norway, Mr. Amina Mabel Andersen and our Eelam Tamilar Vaseegaran, and I consider this as a compliment from Tamils around the world.
This award has given me new inspiration and freshness. I dedicate this award to honest organic farmers around the world,” he said.
