Cricket has become a part of life in India, from children to adults. Most people start their cricket game with tennis balls. More than a game, cricket is a tool to unite people of different religions, languages, races and cultures.

While cricket stadiums reveal history, if you look at the narrow lanes and busy streets of the country, you can believe that it is where the stars of the future are truly born.

There is no dearth of cricketing talent in India, but there is no right platform to take it forward.

Street cricket, though played in a very casual manner and with tennis balls, has long paved the way for unfiltered talent.

This is where many of India’s cricketing legends including Dhoni and Virat Kohli first developed their skills, energy and determination. From these humble beginnings, countless cricketers have gone on to achieve national and international fame.

The SSPL provides a structured platform where the best of street cricket can take centre stage. It is an ambitious T10 tennis ball cricket tournament designed to bring the unmatched passion of street cricket to world-class venues. This T10 cricket league is for players above the age of 12 years with 8 overs of tennis ball and 2 overs of tape ball. The entry fee is just Rs 699 plus GST.

The trials will be held across all states, metro cities and non-metro locations. The 3-stage trial process will be extended by a month. The contribution to technological innovations in player selection and game monitoring, the recognition of the authenticity and excitement of tennis ball cricket to professional standards, sets the SSPL apart from other competitions.

Its main objective is to take local talent to international standards. The reception it has received so far has led to the consideration of hosting the finals in Sharjah, if the stadium becomes available.

Transparency and fair play are one of the key features of the SSPL. There is a commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency at all levels of the selection.

This will be implemented by using the latest technology and sharing the report cards of the participants.
The trials held in the qualifying round will be recorded on video. Participants will also be allowed to watch their games.

The latest technology has been used in the selection of players, as well as to monitor and analyse the game. What makes it truly unique is that this level of high-end and expensive technology has never been used in tennis ball cricket before.

Batting evaluations will be conducted through simulated environments that mimic match conditions. Thermal imaging cameras and speed monitoring technology will undoubtedly improve the real-time analysis of bowling assessments.

The league will feature 12 teams representing 6 states and 1 union territory from South India.

  • Each team will have up to 25 players selected.
  • The final 500 players will be selected through a rigorous multi-city selection process. Out of these, 300 players will be selected through an auction. This will be an international-level tennis ball T10 league.

The chairman of SSPL,
Nawabzada Mohammad Asif Ali, is a great cricket enthusiast. This will give extra attention to the league.
