Speaking at the event
Director Sikkal Rajesh said,
“The producer of the film is my friend Mahendran. He saw me telling this story to many people and came forward to produce this film myself. After the first phase of shooting, there was a problem in moving forward.. But since the story was gripping, he accepted many difficulties and produced this film.
After the editing, the editor Ramar said that the film is good.. It would be good if two more songs were added.
Beyond satisfying the people, there is something called business here. I told the producer that the producer should not lose money either. He agreed to it. Not only that, we also removed the scenes that were already shot in the film, which were not satisfactory for about 12 days, and reshot them. He cooperated to that extent.
Even after India gained independence, they tried to suppress and oppress women. After that, some political parties and progressive thinkers came and tried to change them. Laws were also brought for that.
However, until now, women Injustice and cruelty are still happening. My heart trembles just listening to it. The result of this is the film Iravin Vizhigal.
I have clearly and decisively stated what I wanted to do and say to this society.
The composer gave me beautiful songs that expressed what I wanted in my heart.
We shot in places in Yercaud where even vehicles could not go. In a fight scene, the people who tied me to a wire eighty feet high left me hanging there for two or three minutes without coming down. It was very terrifying to look down for those few minutes,” he said.
Super Singer fame singer Vishnu Charan spoke,
“The song I have sung in this film will be a bit stylish, as if it is outside the genre of the film. As far as the music director is concerned, he will never sit down until he sings a song and records it,” he said.
Lyricist Arvind Akram spoke,
“In creating five songs in this film, there are five different backstories for me, the director and the music director. My name is Akram… the music director’s name is Azhar. But the first song we both created together is Vada Karuppa.. How the director trusted us to create this song is a big surprise,” he said.
Director R.V. Udayakumar speaking,
“Recently, the Kalaimamani Award was announced.. We were also very active in the selection process of the films sent from Tamil to the Oscars. However, it is a pity that no Tamil film was selected to compete there this year. But Telugu and Kannada films are being featured. Where has the creativity gone among Tamil creators here? Producers who make small films do not even know in which theaters their films are running and in which section.
At the time my film Ponnumani was released, 16 films were released. Out of them, 12 were successful. There needs to be a time like that, we request you to bring it.
Cinema owners should inform about the concessions as if it were abroad so that the fans can watch many films in bulk.
Even now, there is an environment where women do not have enough security. This film speaks about that. No one gives the importance given to film production to the publicity of the film now. That itself becomes a minus.
Many films are released only during the audio launch ceremony and the question is whether there is such a film. We scold the website owners for criticizing the film badly. Be happy that they are criticizing our film even wrongly. That is also a publicity,” he said.
Music composer A.M. Azhar spoke,
“Iravin Viligal is made in a wonderful psycho thriller genre. There are five songs in five different genres. If Arvind Akram writes a song once, there will be no changes in it. The visuals for the songs of the film have also been shot wonderfully,” he said.
Heroine Neema Ray spoke,
“Director Rajesh can be called Mr. Perfectionist. If he was not satisfied with some scenes shot during the shoot, he would call me two weeks after the shoot was over and reshoot some scenes. After that, when I contacted him again, he said that he was not satisfied with his scenes as the hero and was going to reshoot them. He has created the film Iravin Vizhigal by looking at perfection in everything. When I see the director during the shoot, everything that comes to mind is the film Enniyan.
Before the shoot, he would become like Ambi and after the shoot started, he would become like Enniyan,” he said.
Choreographer L.K. Anthony spoke,
“Initially, they gave me a chance for only one song in this film. After seeing that one song turned out well, they asked me to choreograph all four songs myself. They provided all the facilities even before I asked. Since the producer himself had also acted as the hero, they paid him an extra to act,” he said.
Producer and hero Mahendran spoke,
“Director Rajesh called me to act in another production company. But when I heard the story of the film, I said that I would produce it myself.
He said, “You play the hero yourself.” I refused. But he suffered more than I suffered. If he was not satisfied with some scenes, he would not let me do even ten takes.
One day, he was filming scenes without even letting me eat breakfast. This film was made to raise awareness among people. When Rajesh told me this story, this film was sown as a seed. I have turned it into a plant. I request you to support me in growing it into a tree and eating the fruit of the idea in it,” he said.
Actor Sisar Manohar spoke,
“We went to the Vellimalai area for shooting. He shot the scenes that were supposed to be shot in 25 days in 15 days. To that extent, the director would not let anyone sit down and go around in a frenzy. This film has been created to express the necessary opinion of women in this era,” he said.
Actress Komal Sharma said,
“I believe that true freedom is when all the youth speak freely. I see the future of the country in your eyes. The fire in your heart should not only light up our town but also become a guide for the whole world. If you look at world history, it is the youth who have stood shoulder to shoulder in every revolution.
The battlefield of today’s youth is different. It is not a gun or a sword.. a post.. a tweet.. these are reels. The cell phone in your hand is a beacon.. a guide.. Don’t ruin your life for a few followers. Use your voice for a country and a forest. Become a voice for children who have no voice. Be useful to the rivers that are slowly disappearing. If you show hatred on social media, it will increase a thousand times. If you sow hope, it will give you a thousand times hope.
I hope that you will be a guide for the new youth and the coming generation,” he said.
Actress Namitha’s husband Veera spoke,
“I am from Andhra Pradesh. However, I came here because of my love for Tamil and settled here. Earlier, they called me Anna and Akka with affection.
Now everything has changed to Pro. Culture and cinema were an important part of Tamil Nadu. The whole world was amazed. Now there is a small stagnation in it. The reason for that is us.. I may be a producer for a cinema first.. but for a cinema second, I am a viewer..
If films like Pushpa and Baahubali come out, will the fans enjoy it?
No, no. Even the small films released in Telugu last week have received a huge response. I don’t know if we are making films wrong here in Tamil or failing to meet the expectations of the fans. This film has been made very well with great difficulty. Fans should come to the theater and support it,” he said.
While actor Bose Venkat was speaking,
“Iravin Vizhigal should be as successful as Umai Vizhigal. My brother director R. V. Udayakumar talked about the film’s release. As soon as he said release, everyone would turn their attention to the DMK.
If they had said about Red Giant, then why didn’t they make Red Giant even when the AIADMK was in power?
When my film was released, there were more than 200 theaters in the first week.. The next week it was 150 theaters.. But in the third week my film was not in many theaters.. I asked the theater owners to give me a chance to put up a 25-day or 50-day poster. In that way, now the lifespan of a film has changed from 10 to 20 days. Then OTT came.
When Vishal said that small producers should please not come to make films, I was the first to raise my voice of protest. But what he meant was that he said to be a little careful.
He said that without knowing what to say. That is why it cannot be denied that some producers have run away. It is our fault that we did not create an opportunity for fans to come to the theater. There should be an important point for them to come in.
Even if it is a caste film, a crowd comes to watch it. Making films for awards is one thing, star films are another. But for other films, you cannot blame the theaters, distributors or fans.
Since big films are already coming with a planned release date, why are you backing down? Isn’t a big film a failure? Many times, a big film is a failure. Why do you give up? You have to fight..
When you leave, they get a field to play in. You get more scenes. Will you register your house and property in someone’s name? Then how do you give a film that you have made by spending crores of money to someone? Why are you hesitant to release it yourself? If so, you have come in without learning business. Come and learn business.
There is no point in crying that you have failed..
I want to learn distribution now. I am going to get into it soon. That is where all films end up in trouble. Why should we beg someone to release the film? In the future, the producers should release their films on their own.. No one should go behind,” he said..
Director M. Kalanjiyam speaking,
“When actor Bose Venkat spoke, he said that when the film is released, everyone turns to the DMK. If a company keeps insisting that its films be released in more theaters, who else should we turn to?
Small films are not getting theaters. A recent film was criticized for being good. But we don’t know which theater it is being shown in. Film associations, producers, and distributors, who are supposed to regulate the film industry, never worry about this.
The reason for this is politics. They are afraid that they will get angry or upset.
On the other hand, if a big film is released and all the theaters release the same film, how will small films get a place? Only small films are made with a sense of responsibility and with a thought for the people. Films of big actors are not made with any social purpose. In fact, they are causing social degradation. In today’s era, women are being cheated a lot through the internet. This film Iravin Vizhigal talks about how their lives are deteriorating.
The impact of those internet sites has also affected cinema. Tamil cinema has created a situation where bringing small films to theatres is a waste of money. There is a system in cinema in Andhra Pradesh. Only our Directors Association is worried that when a big film comes out, 10 small films should be released along with it. But those who have to implement it refuse to do it,” he said.
When Director Perarasu spoke,
“People from many parties like AIADMK, DMK, Naam Tamilar, BJP have come here to speak. When you see the heroine Neemare mimicking the director and speaking, it is clear that she is a great actress.
M. Kalanjiyam has said what Seeman brother needed to say. Director Sikkal Rajesh is like a villager like me.
He is affectionate. That is why he added the name of his hometown.
Women have become equal to men, we call them revolutionary women. But today there is no one in a worse position than them.. This film is trying to raise awareness about that. Today, making a film is not a big deal. It is difficult to release it.
This is the biggest problem in cinema today. Releasing a film is the first success. Back then, everyone thought that this cinema should be good. But today, many have started thinking that only my film should run, only I should be good.
They do not think that they should give theaters to another producer’s film.
In that way, destroying cinema today is selfishness/ If you think like that, cinema will also be destroyed at some point and those who are selfish will also be destroyed. In the past, fans who watched films waited for the reviews published in some important magazines, read them and went to watch the film.
If they didn’t get a review, they would call and ask. But when you look at the reviews made by a few people today, you wonder why they criticize like this. They are spewing hatred.
The mentality of today’s fans also believes the criticism of such people. They are happy only if someone is criticized. If it is said positively, they ignore it.
Everyone who thinks that a small film should run should thank superstar Rajinikanth. When a good film is released, he invites the film crew to his house and congratulates them.
Who else has such a mind today? Many people watch that film because Rajini sir himself has said that it is good. In that way, the superstar helps a small film succeed. Because he is someone who wants cinema to be good.
At one of his film’s success ceremonies, director Cheran praises the film and presents him with a gold chain. Which hero would have such a mind..? Similarly, if you have any favorite short films of the big heroes of today, and if they are good, then please praise them generously..” he said.
