10 poor women were given autos at the 10th anniversary launch of social activist P T Selvakumar’s Kalapai Makkal Iyakam!

P T Selvakumar, who has various identities such as journalist, film public relations officer, film producer, actor Vijay’s PRO for many years and supported his development, and social activist, is a social service organization founded and managed by Kalapai Makkal Iyakam.

The 10th anniversary launch of the organization, which aims to provide welfare assistance to the poor and simple people, was held on 3.11.2025 in the afternoon at The Nagar Social Club, Chennai.

10 poor women with experience in driving autos were given autos at the event.

Speaking at the event and distributing autos to the beneficiaries, P T Selvakumar said, “I have been a journalist, a PRO for actor Vijay, and have been working for his development for 27 years and engaged in social services.

We started the Kalapai People’s Movement to carry out social services, keeping in mind that we should not stop at where we were born, raised, and lived. When we started, there were people who made fun of us and said, “What can this person do?” We have passed all such talks and are now in our 10th year. We are providing autos to 10 people.

We ensure that our assistance programs reach the poor and needy, especially those in hilly and tribal villages.

In appreciation of the help we have provided for a year continuously during the Corona period, Edappadi Palaniswami gave me the ‘Humanitarian Award’ during his rule.

After that, we have built classrooms and art galleries in more than 30 government schools in hilly villages and around Nellai district. Appreciating that service, Education Minister Anbil Mahesh and Speaker Appavu gave me the ‘Best Education Service Award’ and encouraged me.

Now we are entering the 10th year. We have decided to organize the event in a better way and have decided to provide autos to 10 poor and simple women auto drivers in recognition of the hard work of women.

If I was invited to the Tamil Nadu CM leadership meeting yesterday and have come, then I have grown to that extent, then it has not happened normally.

We have come to this place after overcoming all challenges, humiliations, sweat and blood. Nothing comes in vain. I have worked hard behind every action. I have faced great struggles. I am ready to face challenges and do whatever I can for the welfare of the people. Our social service work will continue even better in the coming days.

Just as you bring news about big actors and actresses to the people, similarly I request journalists to support the social service work of ordinary people like us,” he said.

After that, when journalists asked, ‘Will you form an alliance with actor Vijay’s party?’ He said, ‘If the times are right, we can work together. It would be good if Vijay becomes the Chief Minister.’

When asked about the Karur stampede tragedy, he said, ‘Vijay should select second-tier leaders with political experience to control and regulate his crowd in the coming days. He should pay attention to matters such as going to meetings on time.’

When asked about SIR (Special Intensive Revision – SIR), he said, ‘It is wrong for the central government to implement SIR in a hurry when there are only a few months left for the elections.’

Nandakumar, vice president of Kalapai People’s Movement, who gave the welcome speech at the beginning of the event, said, ‘We have started this organization with the motto of doing what we can for the poor and simple people. We have provided welfare assistance worth Rs. 6 lakh during the Gaja cyclone. We have provided assistance in various places during the Corona pandemic. Other political parties helped those who had the right to vote. We provided necessary welfare assistance to Burmese refugees who did not have the right to vote in India. Our assistance also reached many people like female auto drivers and transgenders.

We have implemented various welfare schemes such as providing hearing aids, glasses, planting saplings and lambs to the poor and needy. Whatever assistance we provide, we aim to benefit the poor and needy, hilly and tribal people. After knowing about our activities, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has called us three times and recognized us.

Yesterday (2.11.2025) at the meeting against the SIR (Special Intensive Revision – SIR) action plan to be implemented by the Central Government, chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the founding president of the Plough People’s Movement, P.D. Selvakumar, also spoke at the meeting.

He presented his views with a smile.

P T Selvakumar not only supported the development of actor Vijay; when there was a problem with the release of Vijay Sethupathi’s film ‘Thenmerku Paruvak Kaathoo’, he helped solve it and participated in his development, he said.

On behalf of those who received autos, a woman mentioned the help that P T Selvakumar’s Kalappai Makkal Iyakam has been providing to them since the Corona period and thanked them for providing autos and encouraging them, and the event came to an end.
