Parai which refers to a hand drum is an ancient musical instrument which is mostly used on the occasion of Death Processions, in the contemporary sense.
But the point is normally thinks it fit to probe into its background/heritage how it originated!
Well, this flick deliberates on those aspects in the title sequences while painting a pathetic picture regarding the predicament of those who still patronize and practice it!
Leo Sivakumar is Vetri who along with his buddy, Ezhil (Ariyan) runs a business of playing on the instrument on specific occasions, Temple and Death occasions, excluded!
The duo have a specific reason for such a stand of theirs !
They also teach rising talents to play on the instrument, blind students included!
Vetri gets married to a girl of her choice while on the other side, his wife’s (Gayathri Rema)’s parents (Gajaraj & Rama) are furious.
At one point, caste based politics prop up in that village where the community of those playing the instruments are being looked down upon!
As the screenplay unfolds, first Ezhil and then Vetri are brutally murdered the killing of the latter holding a suspense!
The pre-climax portions of the film reveal the rest while the climax projects a new player of the traditional instrument!
