Vembu film wins award at Chennai International Film Festival

The 23rd Chennai International Film Festival saw participation from many countries. The film Vembu was selected for screening and received a great reception from the audience. The emotional feedback from the viewers made the film crew immensely happy. Many compared Vembu to the realistic works of leading directors like Balu Mahendra. They greatly appreciated the film for centering on Silambam martial arts within the context of everyday life, and for incorporating the principles and dialogues of Ambedkar and Periyar. At the Chennai International Film Festival awards ceremony, actress Sheila, who acted in Vembu, received a Special Mention Certificate Award. The entire film crew is overjoyed by this recognition of their hard work.

Vembu beautifully portrays the realistic lives of ordinary people. All the actors have delivered realistic performances. The inclusion of politically charged dialogues and scenes adds significance to the film. Furthermore, it has emerged as a film that speaks about women’s rights and advocates for change through alternative perspectives.

It is noteworthy that Vembu had already won awards in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories at the Ahmedabad International Film Festival.
