Produced by Akash Bhaskaran under the banner of Dawn Pictures, and starring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravimohan, Atharvaa Murali, and Sreeleela, “Parasakti” is a grand film directed by Sudha Kongara.
Set against the historical backdrop of the 1960s, this film, a creation that celebrates the glory of the Tamil language in a unique setting, is scheduled for a worldwide release on January 10th, 2026, as a Pongal release.
Presented by Inban Udhayanidhi, the film is being released by Red Giant Movies.
The film’s music launch event was held grandly at a private college (Sai Ram College) in Tambaram, Chennai, with the film crew in attendance and in the presence of thousands of fans.
At this event…
Actor Sivakarthikeyan spoke:
The name Parasakti itself is very powerful. True to that name, this film will also create the same level of impact. This film will take the audience on a time travel journey to the 1960s. Students are always powerful, and this film strongly shows how powerful they were during that time. Many opinions are being expressed about the film’s content. But we have recorded the sacrifices of many people in a positive and respectful manner.
Sudha ma’am had come to the premiere of the Kottukali film. At that time, she told me a story. It was a love story. I was expecting something big. But the single line she said at that time surprised me. I won’t say anything more than that.
Then she gave me the script book and asked me to read it. Immediately, I told my manager, “I’m definitely doing this film; I’ll finish reading the script tonight.” When I opened the script and saw that it was in English, I had to call again and say that I would need some time. The next day, I went there pretending that I had read the entire script.
Everyone had given me a lot of build-up about how strict Sudha ma’am was. Only after going to the shooting spot did I realize that she would explain the scenes only in English. And that too, like Shakespearean English! I couldn’t follow it properly.
At one point, she came and spoke to me. That’s when I told her that English was my problem, and that I felt like I was living with Gautham Menon sir now. After hearing that, from that day onwards, she started explaining the scenes entirely in Tamil. I learned many things from her. The most important of them were hard work and complete dedication.
Ravi sir, seeing you reminded me of my college days. When I was in college, I regularly watched your films. Especially in the movie M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, I really liked your clothes, your style, everything. One day, Sudha ma’am came and said that Ravi sir had agreed to act in this film.
Immediately, I went into ‘Thalaivar’ mode and reacted, “What, Jayam Ravi?” It was something to be happy about, but at the same time, there was also a great surprise. Just like how powerful Arvind Swamy was as the villain in Thani Oruvan, Ravi sir is playing a very powerful villain character in Parasakthi. I wholeheartedly cherished every day I got to act closely with you on screen.
Celebrate Dhanush’s film in theaters on January 9th. He has entertained us in the film industry for 33 years. He has said that this is his last film, so we must celebrate it on January 9th. The next day, January 10th, come to our film and celebrate Parashakti. This Pongal is an amazing Pongal for Kollywood.
Everyone knows that everyone celebrates their own film grandly.
Let me be even clearer: let anyone say whatever they want, as far as I’m concerned, this Pongal is a brotherly Pongal.
Director Mani Ratnam… spoke…
Sudha worked with me on two films, ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’ and ‘Yuva’. She was the continuity in-charge on those films.
She always had a camera in her hand. She worked with many artists, many heroes, and many heroines. But not a single artist could escape from Sudha. Even after the shooting was over and they left the set, they had to go past Sudha. She would only let them go after checking for continuity errors. Even back then, there wasn’t a single artist who wasn’t afraid of Sudha. If that was the case then, there’s no need to even mention it now. Sivakarthikeyan is choosing his scripts very carefully. After saying “Wishing you a very very best,” Sivakarthikeyan stood up and thanked him.
Actress Sreeleela… spoke…
I was waiting for a role like the one I got in this film. Sudha Kongara ma’am is a very strong director. On the film set, Director Sudha Kongara was like a mother to me. Ravi Mohan is completely different on-screen and off-screen; he’s so sweet. Sivakarthikeyan is also very sweet; it was a great experience working with him. I want to work in Tamil cinema. Watch this film…
You all must give your support.
Music composer G.V. Prakash Kumar spoke…
Thank you to everyone who supported me on my journey. Thanks to Vasanthabalan who gave me my first film, and to Sudha who gave me my 100th film. As a token of gratitude to Sudha, who helped me win my first National Award, we made the film ‘Parasakti’ for her. We have hidden an important element in this film. We are protecting it very carefully. This film will surely give you a great experience. I received the National Award after a long wait. Many asked why I missed out on the National Award for films like ‘Veyil’, ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, and ‘Asuran’. Finally, I received the National Award for Sudha Kongara’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’. I am proud that I received the National Award through a sister.
Director Sudha Kongara spoke…
My guru, Mani Ratnam, taught me that when someone says something is impossible in our lives, that’s when we should prove them wrong. When I thought it was impossible to create ‘Parasakti’, I felt I had to prove it. Thank you to all the ‘Parasaktis’ who supported me in creating ‘Parasakti’. I don’t want to talk about ‘Parasakti’ anymore. You should be the ones to talk about ‘Parasakti’. Your words should be my words.
Both films releasing this Pongal should be hits. You, the fans, are the ones who should keep cinema alive. It is in your hands.
Actor Atharvaa spoke…
‘Parasakti’ was a great experience.
All the small props set up on the film set were beautiful. I particularly liked one lamp; I even thought of stealing it one day and actually took it. But then I put it back, thinking they would say, “Atharvaa stole the lamp from the film set.” I like all of G.V.’s songs. You will like the songs in this film too. I keep the place I am in and the people around me happy. I learned that from Ravi Mohan. When I first met Sivakarthikeyan, I met him as an actor. Only afterwards did we become close friends. Sometimes, when you witness someone’s growth, they become very dear to your heart. Sivakarthikeyan is one such person. No matter how many films he makes, whether it’s his fiftieth or hundredth film, I will be the first to applaud him. I believe that when the film ‘Parasakti’ is released, it will be a film that everyone loves. This film will be a cult classic for Sudha.
Actor Ravi Mohan spoke…
Speaking at the music launch of a film where I’m the lead actor feels a bit awkward. But speaking at the SK film event isn’t like that. I have confidence that “Parashakti,” a film created by the hard work of many, will be the best film of this year.
If Sivakarthikeyan has started from nothing on stages like this and reached where he is today, then he deserves all of it. He should climb even bigger stages and speak, and you (the fans) should be with him.
They say that a woman feels safe in the presence of many good men. But for the first time, I felt safe in the presence of a woman (Sudha Kongara). Facing all obstacles alone is going to bring great success to producer Akash Bhaskar. Many tried to extinguish this fire (Parashakti) from the outside. This fire is not a dangerous fire; it’s the lamp lit before God.
Many asked why I was playing the villain in Parashakti. I had only two reasons: one was Sudha’s story, and the other was Sudha herself. But now, thinking about this decision, I have no regrets; I’m happy. You’ve seen me as a hero all this time; from now on, you’ll see me as a villain. That’s how I’ll talk, in a fun way.
This film is about protecting one’s self-respect. I too have tried to protect my self-respect in my life. I don’t care about those who stab me in the back. I only care about those I can see. As an elder brother to everyone, I say, never lose your self-respect. If you keep this in mind, you can live as a good human being in this world. Celebrate this film, everyone. Thank you.
The film “Parashakti” is releasing worldwide in theaters on January 10th as a Pongal celebration.
