The fact that this film is being re-released with enhanced sound and picture quality, updated for the digital age, is indeed a celebration for STR fans.
Silambarasan (STR)’s portrayal of two distinct characters, “Vettaiyan” and “Thamarai,” in this film is still talked about by fans today. ββIn particular, the action sequences set against a rural backdrop and based on the martial art of Silambam, along with Simbu’s body language and dialogue delivery, gave the film a unique identity.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music was a major strength for “Silambattam,” directed by S. Saravanan. From the title track to the melodies and dance numbers, all the songs were chartbusters at the time. Sanusha and Sneha starred alongside Simbu. The villain characters, the emotional mother-son sentiment, and the village politics were among the many elements that captivated the audience.
For fans who want to see the mass Simbu, the action Simbu, and the rural Simbu all in one film, the re-release of “Silambattam” will be a festive experience. This film is being re-released in theaters on February 6th.
