After several successful original series and films, including the recent Pongal release starring Jiiva and Andrea Jeremiah, ZEE5 Tamil continues to strengthen its entertainment content for its regional audience.
In this line, the critically acclaimed crime-courtroom drama film “Sirai” will premiere on ZEE5 Tamil from January 23, 2026. The film is based on a story by director Tamil, who also co-wrote the screenplay with debut director Suresh Rajakumari, who directed the film. Produced by S.S. Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio, the film stars Vikram Prabhu, L.K. Akshay Kumar, Anishma Anilkumar, and Anantha Thambiraja in lead roles.
This film marks L.K. Akshay Kumar’s debut. It is also noteworthy that this film reunites the Vikram Prabhu-Tamil duo after their previous collaboration on ‘Taanakkaran’, which marked Tamil’s directorial debut. ‘Sirai’ premieres on ZEE5 Tamil from January 23, 2026.
The film’s central story revolves around the journey of an honest police officer who gets caught amidst the complications, systemic pressures, humanitarian feelings, and ethical conflicts that arise during the task of escorting a prisoner to court. A gripping courtroom drama is also interwoven into the narrative. Regarding the film’s digital release, Vikram Prabhu said:
“’Sirai’ is one of the most emotional and close-to-my-heart films in my acting journey. My character is bound by duty; at the same time, he questions the very system he works for. I am very excited that this film is going to reach a wider audience through ZEE5 Tamil. It is my wish that viewers in all regions should experience this story.”
Regarding his character, L.K. Akshay Kumar said:
