“Zen Ishinryu Karate Creates Historical Record in Chennai”

Chennai, February 1, 2026: Under the guidance of renowned Karate Master Garybala, Sensais S. Roshan, P. Pranav, and P. Padmanabhan Dheeraj performed awe-inspiring karate feats.
This event was conducted in memory of and to honor the late great Guru Shihan Hussaini – Hu (the father of Indian Ishinryu Karate), with the aim of showcasing the disciplined art of karate and expressing immense respect, gratitude, and responsibility towards the Guru.

Our Zen Ishinryu Karate students – in the under-18 category – had 101 granite stones broken on Sensei P. Padmanabhan Dheeraj’s chest, while Sensais P. Pranav and S. Roshan each broke 101 sets of fire tiles, setting a record.

This record-breaking event, held at the Montfort Auditorium in Mylapore, Chennai, under the guidance of the renowned Master T. Balamurugan, popularly known as Hanshi Garybala, was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Justice Mrs. V. Chellammal, B.A.B.L., LL.M.

The event was a true celebration of martial arts, inspiring future leaders and the community to look beyond age and embrace their potential.

Master Garybala, who founded Zen Ishinryu Karate in 1999 and has trained over 40,000 students, has seen his students win state and national-level championship titles.
