Decision to Unconditionally Support Candidates of the DMK-led Alliance – Kamal Haasan
We, the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party, have wholeheartedly resolved to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections under our signature ‘Battery Torch’ symbol. To this day, we have upheld our distinct identity while simultaneously honoring the principles of alliance dharma.
We have decided not to contest directly in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. We believe that for the progress of Tamil Nadu, a government that implements the principles of Gandhi, Periyar, and Ambedkar is essential. The collective victory prospects of the alliance take precedence above all else. Therefore, we have decided to unconditionally support the candidates of the DMK-led alliance.
This is not a sacrifice; it is a duty. It is not an act of self-interest; it is an exercise in patience. In the political arena, elections constitute merely one facet; they are neither the ultimate end nor a definitive full stop. I regard this decision as a tribute—an expression of respect—to your sentiments and your faith in us. I extend my deepest gratitude, from the very depths of my heart, to my cadres and administrators.
