“Sirai” Movie Success Celebration!!
Produced by S.S. Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio, and directed by debutant filmmaker Suresh Rajakumari, the film Sirai stars Vikram Prabhu and newcomer LK Akshay Kumar.
Based on a true incident and set in a unique milieu, the film was released in theaters worldwide on December 25, 2025, as a special Christmas release, receiving an excellent reception from audiences. Subsequently, upon its release on the ZEE5 OTT platform on January 23, the film garnered immense popularity there as well, winning widespread acclaim from viewers.
Even 75 days after its initial release, the film continues to draw appreciative audiences in theaters.
Having earned praise from all quarters—including the general public, cinema enthusiasts, and critics—Sirai has been celebrated as one of the most notable and finest films of the past year.
To celebrate the film’s success, a special “Success Celebration” event was held in the presence of friends from the press and media. During the event, the cast and crew members—both artists and technicians—were honored with commemorative success trophies for their contributions to the film. Additionally, theater owners and distributors were also presented with trophies in recognition of their support.
Speaking at the event, Director Suresh Rajakumari stated:
“This film has achieved tremendous success, and I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who stood by us and supported this endeavor. When filming a specific scene, we often proceed with faith and hope, even if we cannot predict exactly how it will turn out on screen. It was upon this very foundation of faith that the entire film was built. Adapting stories based on real-life incidents into feature films is a highly challenging undertaking. This is because simply recreating a true event exactly as it occurred on screen does not necessarily make for effective cinema. At the same time, while transforming it into a cinematic narrative, one must also preserve the inherent authenticity of the original event. Striking that delicate balance while crafting a film is indeed a very arduous process.

However, [when it comes to] making such films in our…” Getting a film to run successfully in theaters is no easy feat. Often, we tend to watch and appreciate such films on OTT platforms. However, crafting a film in a way that Tamil audiences will truly enjoy within a theatrical setting is of paramount importance.
In this endeavor, every member of our team provided immense support. The entire technical crew—including the cinematographer and the editor—worked tirelessly to bring this film to life in the most exceptional manner.
Producer Lalit Sir stands as the greatest strength of this film. His faith in this story—a belief so profound that he chose to launch his own son through it—is truly a remarkable thing. The fact that he placed his trust in a debut director and a novel creative endeavor to produce this film filled us with immense encouragement.
The success of this film brings us immense joy. It serves as a testament to the fact that if one believes in and produces such unique stories, the audience will undoubtedly embrace them. Furthermore, every actor who performed in this film worked with unwavering dedication. It is solely through their hard work that this film has reached the heights it has today. This film was not promoted on a massive scale; rather, it was the word-of-mouth appreciation spreading from one person to another that drove large crowds to the theaters. The reception generated through these personal recommendations proved to be the film’s greatest asset.

“Many individuals have made significant contributions to the success of this film. First and foremost, I offer my heartfelt thanks to all the artists and technical crew members who poured their efforts into this project. It is through their hard work and dedication that this film was realized and achieved its current success. I also wish to thank my friends in the press and media for helping to take this film to the masses.
I must express my gratitude to Director Suresh Sir separately. He possesses the unique ability to translate a compelling story onto the screen with exceptional brilliance and effectively convey its essence to the audience. It has been approximately four years since Taanakkaran was completed. Yet, when the film finally saw its release, it evoked a fresh and renewed sense of excitement within me. The accolades and appreciation the film is currently receiving feel, in a way, like a personal validation for me. These past four years have certainly been filled with numerous challenges.” There were times when circumstances arose that necessitated halting the filming process. However, it brings me immense joy to see that, having overcome all those difficulties, this film has finally reached the audience.
Tamil cinema is currently growing to such an extent that the entire Indian film industry is turning its head to take notice. At the same time, we hold Malayalam cinema in high regard; it is home to many talented writers. In fact, Tamil Nadu is truly the region in India with the highest concentration of writers, and it is also where the greatest number of books are published. However, we must do more to provide our writers with the respect and opportunities they deserve.
We should make a concerted effort to read more stories written by authors and adapt compelling narratives into films. For cinema is not merely a form of entertainment; it also serves as a reflection of the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Therefore, rather than relying solely on digital and OTT platforms, we must continue to produce large-scale films specifically designed for the theatrical experience. “I simply said, ‘It will work.’ However, the faith he possessed went far beyond even that. In reality, this film achieved a commercial success that exceeded his expectations.
This success was attained because the inherent truth and emotional depth within the film resonated universally with everyone. Director Suresh’s effort in crafting the film in this manner is truly exceptional. In fact, the story is rooted in a real-life incident from the Tamil way of life. Transforming such an event into a screenplay—and subsequently shaping it into a cohesive feature film through his own unique lens—is no easy feat. That journey must have been fraught with numerous challenges; yet, he executed it with unwavering faith and determination.
His work ethic, his ability to unify the team, and his capacity to handle even the most complex situations with composure are truly remarkable. It is precisely for these reasons that the film has turned out so magnificently. The beauty and nuance evident in every single scene of the film serve as a testament to his talent. Furthermore, every actor and technician involved in this project worked with immense dedication and commitment.
The fact that Tamil cinema audiences have embraced this film is truly a wonderful thing. As I have always maintained, the mainstream audience of Tamil cinema possesses incredibly refined taste. One cannot say with certainty whether a creative endeavor of this nature—had it been attempted in another language—would have achieved a similar level of success. Yet, in Tamil cinema, it has proven to be possible.
The mutual respect that Tamil and Suresh demonstrated toward one another throughout this project is truly admirable. It is all too easy, in the wake of success, to claim, “I am the sole reason for this.” However, by refraining from making such claims and instead honoring one another, they have set a truly commendable example.
It is a deeply moving experience for me to witness the public embracing this film while critics, too, shower it with praise. I have known many members of this team since the days they first stepped out of college. Back then, I could not have fully gauged the extent of their artistic potential. Yet, whenever I watch the films they create today, I am filled with a sense of wonder—asking myself, “Are they truly capable of producing work of such high caliber?” It fills me with immense pride and joy. When Suresh first joined me as an assistant director, our relationship was merely that of a standard director and assistant director. However, over time, it evolved into a genuine friendship. Whatever task he undertakes, he executes it with complete dedication and thoroughness. If he has absolute faith in a concept, he dives into it wholeheartedly; conversely, if he feels something is unfeasible, he states so directly. That blend of honesty and dedication is his most remarkable quality.
The success of this film brings me immense joy. It fills me with pride to see the young talents within my team creating such fine cinema. It is my sincere hope that they continue to undertake such excellent endeavors.
I would like to offer just one piece of advice: once success arrives, one is often surrounded by various distractions and influences. However, it is crucial never to forget where you started; you must remain grounded and strive to stay true to your authentic self. That is of paramount importance. Once again, my heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who worked tirelessly on this film.

First and foremost, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my friends in the press and media. As filmmakers, our role extends only to the completion of a film; however, the task of taking that film to the masses lies entirely in your hands. In that regard, the articles you wrote and the discussions you held regarding this film are precisely what have enabled it to reach a vast audience today.
Following the press screening, many of you spoke with deep emotion. Some of you even shared your thoughts on the film while moved to tears. Those very sentiments subsequently resonated with the public. The fact that you wrote about this film with such integrity and objectivity—without any bias or distortion—is the primary reason behind its success.
When Tamil first approached me with this story, I insisted that Akshay was the only person who should star in it. Subsequently, I asked him, “Are you going to direct this film yourself?” However, he replied, “I cannot direct this story; I will only provide the script.” It was only after that exchange that Suresh came on board for this project.
Once Suresh joined the team, we engaged in extensive discussions regarding how we could visualize and present this story in a fresh and innovative manner. Subsequently, I expressed my desire to meet Vikram Prabhu in person to discuss the project. He came directly to my office and engaged in a detailed conversation about the story; for that, I must express my gratitude to him.
Likewise, I would like to thank Silo, who extended his unwavering support to this film and provided assistance at every single stage. He did not merely serve as an Executive Producer; rather, he actively participated in and contributed to every aspect of the film’s production. His involvement in all technical departments—including music and editing—proved to be a tremendous asset to this movie.
Akshay and I would frequently engage in discussions. At times, there would be minor differences of opinion; however, these were always solely for the betterment of the film. I would often tell him that, despite being an actor, one must also understand and appreciate the inherent challenges involved in the production process. Throughout this journey, Vishnu, too, played a pivotal role in mediating and assisting with various matters.
It gives us immense joy that this film has achieved such a massive success. Once again, my heartfelt thanks go to the fans who embraced and supported this film, as well as to our friends in the media who have consistently extended their support.
