After films like ‘K.G.F’, ‘Marco’, and ‘Toxic’, music composer Ravi Basrur is once again set to create a musical storm. ‘Kaattalan’, produced by Cubes Entertainments and featuring his musical score, is slated for release soon.
Music composer Ravi Basrur has created a massive sensation across South India through films such as ‘K.G.F’, ‘Marco’, and ‘Toxic’. He has now been signed to compose the music for ‘Kaattalan’—a grand action-thriller produced by Sherif Mohammed on behalf of Cubes Entertainments. While earlier reports suggested that B. Ajaneesh Loknath would compose the score, it has now been officially confirmed that Ravi Basrur will be handling the music direction.
Planned as a Pan-Indian release, the film is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on May 14th. It is expected to be one of the biggest releases in the history of Malayalam cinema. The film is directed by debutant filmmaker Paul George. This marks the next production from Cubes Entertainments following the massive Pan-Indian success of their previous film, ‘Marco’. Antony Varghese stars as the protagonist in ‘Kaattalan’, supported by an impressive ensemble cast of major stars.
Renowned for his high-octane songs and background scores in films like ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’, ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’, ‘Salaar’, ‘Marco’, and ‘Toxic’, Ravi Basrur makes his return to the Malayalam film industry with this project. The film promises to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience for audiences. Kaattalan has been crafted as a quintessential “mass action thriller,” featuring world-class visuals—including fight choreography—and a compelling musical score. The film’s screenplay was co-written by Joby Varghese, Paul George, and Jero Jacob, while the dialogues were penned by Unni R.
The previously released teaser for the film received an overwhelming response from audiences. It strongly suggests that the movie will feature intense action sequences—a level of intensity hitherto unseen in the Malayalam film industry.
Through this film, actress Dushara Vijayan makes her debut as a lead actress in the Malayalam film industry. Joining her in the cast are Telugu actor Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Raj Tirandasu, Bollywood actor Parth Tiwari, as well as Jagadish and Siddique. Additionally, singer Hanansa, rapper Baby Jean, and Hipster play pivotal roles in the film. The movie’s action sequences were choreographed in Thailand under the supervision of Kecha Kampadee—a stunt coordinator renowned globally for his work on the Ong-Bak film franchise—and his team. Furthermore, Pong—the elephant that rose to fame through its appearance in the Ong-Bak series—also features in this film.
Reports indicate that even before the completion of filming, Kaattalan has already shattered several pre-release records within the Malayalam film industry and has secured one of the sector’s most significant overseas distribution deals. The music rights for the film have been acquired by T-Series. Shemaroo has joined as the digital and satellite distribution partner. The film’s grand overseas release operations are being carried out in collaboration with Pars Films.
The film Kaattalan is being released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
