Ravi Mariya’s ‘Makkal Thalaiva’ (For Sale) Poster Set to Create a Political Stir
With the general assembly elections underway in Tamil Nadu, all state and national political parties are actively engaged in campaigning—meeting voters and striving to capture political power. At this juncture, to foster political awareness among the people of Tamil Nadu, the title look for the film ‘Makkal Thalaiva’—starring actor Ravi Mariya as the protagonist—has been released. The title look was unveiled by Tamilaruvi Manian—a staunch loyalist and disciple of the late, great leader Kamarajar—who also extended his best wishes to the film crew.
‘Makkal Thalaiva’ is a new feature film directed by Ram Dev, a creator known for producing content that has generated significant buzz in the social media sphere—including works such as ‘Pazhagiya Naatkal’ and ‘Moondram Manithan’. The film features a large ensemble cast including Ravi Mariya, Akshara Vijay, Radha Ravi, Pazha Karuppiah, Nanjil Sampath, Director Perarasu, Ganja Karuppu, Bayilvan Ranganathan, Director Ranganathan, Kavithalaya Saravanan, and Agni S. Varun, among others. Cinematography for the film was handled by Karthik K.S. Nair, while debutant composer Tulasi Raman composed the music. S.M. Pratap served as the Art Director, and the editing was undertaken by Durgas. Blending a fictional narrative with contemporary politics presented through a comedic lens, this film has been jointly produced by Kavithalaya Saravanan and R. Chandrasekar under the banner of Ram Dev Pictures.
Speaking about the film, the director stated: “At a time when the public is poised to cast their votes to determine the government that will rule for the next five years, we are releasing this controversial—yet meaningful—title poster with the specific aim of fostering political awareness among the people.” Produced under the banner of Ramdev Pictures, the films Pazhagiya Naatkal and Moondram Manithan became major talking points on social media, garnering immense support. In keeping with this trend, the upcoming film Makkal Thalaiva is also poised to create a significant buzz across social media platforms. Furthermore, actor Ravi Mariya—widely renowned in Tamil cinema for his roles as both a character actor and a villain—takes the lead as the protagonist in this film.
“Crafted as a blend of fiction and contemporary politics, this film is infused with elements of humor and entertainment. With all production work now complete, discussions regarding its imminent release are currently underway. The film’s music and trailer will be unveiled very soon,” he stated.
At a time when election fever is burning intensely across Tamil Nadu, the film’s promotional imagery—featuring a map of the state overlaid with the title Makkal Thalaiva and the tagline “FOR SALE”—has captivated audiences and is rapidly going viral across the internet.
