Preview Event for the 18th Annual Edison Awards!

Just as the appreciation of fans serves as an inspiration for the hard work of film artists, it is awards that provide them with true recognition. The Edison Awards have consistently sought out, identified, and honored such talented artists. The preview event for the 18th Annual Edison Awards ceremony was held in Chennai.

Speaking at the event, actor Radha Ravi stated: “It is a matter of great pride that the Edison Awards ceremony has been taking place for 18 years. I, too, have known Selvakumar for all these years. It is my hope that he continues to organize this awards ceremony for many more years to come. Being a part of the film industry is, in itself, a matter of pride; it brings me great joy to see this ceremony conducted as a means of recognizing the professionals within this industry.”

Dr. CMK Reddy remarked: “For an organization to sustain itself for 18 years—overcoming numerous challenges and tribulations—is no ordinary feat. For that very reason, I extend my congratulations to Selvakumar. A common issue faced by both the medical and film industries involves the complexities of everyday life. Producers should come forward to create films that encourage positive social change—such as the abandonment of smoking habits—which are detrimental to society.”

Director Vikraman observed: “Participating in the Edison Awards ceremony is a moment of great pride for me. My son previously won the Edison Award for ‘Best Debut Actor.’ It is my earnest wish that, for his upcoming films, he goes on to win the Edison Award for ‘Best Actor.’ Much like the Filmfare Awards, the National Awards, and the Tamil Nadu State Government Awards, the Edison Award is a prestigious honor. It is my sincere hope that this awards ceremony scales even greater heights in the future.” Actor Jagan stated, “I have had the privilege of hosting the Edison Awards ceremony for three consecutive years. For many, this award has served as a source of both encouragement and inspiration. Mr. Radha Ravi possesses a wonderful sense of humor; the film Chinna Mapillai, in which he starred, stands as a prime example of this. I am a huge fan of Ms. Ambika; I enjoy every single one of her films. I am also fond of Mr. Vikraman’s movies. My heartfelt congratulations to the Edison Awards ceremony as it marks its 18th year.”

Actress Ambika remarked, “My best wishes to this awards ceremony, which has been taking place for 18 years. I have known Selva for many years. I had told him that I would attend the awards ceremony provided my filming schedule permitted it—and, fortunately, the perfect opportunity presented itself. Mr. Radha Ravi is like family to me. I am delighted to have participated in this event and to have met all of you here.”

Stunt Master Silva shared, “Even though we have grown and reached great heights in our careers today, during our early days in the film industry, there was always a lingering yearning: would anyone—other than the director—ever appreciate or recognize our work? It is truly a joyous endeavor that the Edison Awards seeks out such talented individuals and honors them with awards. Winning an Edison Award for my film Chithirai Sevvaanam remains an unforgettable moment for me. We stand where we are today thanks to pioneers like Mr. Radha Ravi, Mr. Vikraman, and Ms. Ambika. Congratulations to everyone who has won an award.”

Singer Anthony Daasan said, “Thank you for inviting me to this awards ceremony. In my early days as a singer, the applause from those around me was my greatest source of encouragement. After entering the film industry, it was the awards that provided that same sense of inspiration. My sincere regards to the Edison Awards ceremony for honoring individuals like myself.” Velmurugan, leader of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi, stated, “Coordinating people from across the globe for an awards ceremony that has been running for 18 years is no ordinary feat. Although I may differ ideologically with Brother Radha Ravi, he is a deeply affectionate person. He has championed my cause and spoken in my support on numerous occasions. While I have many friends within the film industry, it was Brother Radha Ravi who truly recognized my contributions and publicly lauded me. Establishing a medical college and an engineering college in every district, implementing the rainwater harvesting scheme, and enacting the ban on state lotteries—these are among my key achievements. Yet, these accomplishments rarely became subjects of public discourse; instead, those in power claimed the credit and recognition for them. However, I remain the central figure behind these initiatives. It was Brother Radha Ravi who publicly acknowledged this fact and praised me for it. The Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi is a major political movement founded for the welfare of the people residing in Tamil Nadu, as well as for Tamils living across the world. My respectful greetings go out to all the award winners, as well as to everyone who has graced this ceremony with their presence—including Radha Ravi, Vikraman, and Ambika.”
