Press Meet for the Film ‘Blast’ Starring ‘Action King’ Arjun
A press meet was held in Chennai to promote the upcoming film ‘Blast,’ produced by AGS Entertainment. Starring ‘Action King’ Arjun, Abhirami, and Preethi Mukundan, and directed by debutant filmmaker Subash K. Raj, the movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on the 28th of this month.
‘Blast’ features a stellar cast including John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pavan, Bala Hassan, Vinod Sagar, and many others. Arun Radhakrishnan has handled the cinematography, while Ravi Basrur has composed the music for the film. Veeramoni Ganesan has overseen the art direction. Produced as a family action entertainer, the film has been jointly produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi S. Suresh on behalf of AGS Entertainment. Archana Kalpathi served as the Creative Producer, while Aishwarya Kalpathi served as the Associate Creative Producer for the project.
With the film’s teaser and trailer already released and garnering an overwhelming response, the press meet was organized in Chennai to further promote the movie. The film’s cast and crew members attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Director Subash K. Raj said, “This is my first time on a public stage. I would like to thank my parents, relatives, and friends for placing their trust in me and allowing me to pursue a career in the film industry. My special thanks go to Director Pradeep Ranganathan; he is my mentor in the world of cinema. I had the opportunity to work on his film, ‘Love Today’.” “Subsequently, when I wrote a story and narrated it to him, it was he who facilitated the opportunity for me to pitch it to AGS Entertainment. I presented the story to Aishwarya Kalpathi and Archana Kalpathi, and subsequently, to producer Mr. Aghoram. As soon as I finished narrating the story, he declared, ‘We will definitely produce this film.’ That is a moment I can never forget. For this, I extend my gratitude to AGS Entertainment.
I have crafted this film with complete creative freedom, without making any compromises at any stage. Once again, I would like to thank AGS Entertainment for making this possible. For my debut film, ‘Action King’ Arjun has starred as the protagonist; this fact alone fills me with immense pride. My sincere thanks go to him. Every single member of the cast—including Abhirami and Preethi Mukundan—extended their fullest cooperation throughout the making of this film. I also wish to thank every member of the crew—from the cinematographer, music composer, and editor to the stunt choreographer—for dedicating their hard work and commitment to a debutant director like me.

Speaking on the occasion, music composer Ravi Basrur said, “I have listened to numerous scripts with the intention of working on Tamil films. My mindset was that I would only take up a project if it contained truly interesting elements. One must enter the Tamil film industry with thorough preparation, for Tamil cinema is akin to a vast ocean. Director Subash narrated his story to me; when I heard it, I found it to be truly intriguing.” Subash narrated the story in great detail and depth, even going so far as to explain exactly how the action sequences would unfold. Upon hearing it, I was filled with enthusiasm and decided that I simply had to work on this film.
Since he was a debutant director—and feeling that I, too, should attempt something fresh—I set aside all my previous working methods and experimented with numerous new approaches for this project. The director sent me the footage as it was filmed. Upon viewing it, I realized that—despite being a newcomer—he possessed a masterful command over extracting the best work from his team. My confidence in the project solidified after watching the entire film. He has crafted the narrative with great finesse, never once deviating from the core story. He has created a magnificent film by skillfully drawing exactly what he needed from every single artist involved. I was truly amazed to witness Subash working with such intensity and dedication right from his very first film. My sincere thanks go to everyone who placed their trust in him and extended their cooperation.
Every individual possesses a unique talent; even an ant possesses talent. However, that talent remains unknown to the public until someone—much like a National Geographic cinematographer—”zooms in” on it to bring it into focus. Generally, such powerful, action-oriented characters are rarely written for women. That is precisely why I was eager to take on this role the moment the story was narrated to me. Moreover, such roles are rarely offered to emerging artists like myself. I would like to express my gratitude to the director once again for crafting such a character, visualizing it so effectively, and giving it such significant prominence.
Sharing the screen with Arjun and Abhirami was an unforgettable experience. I learned a great deal from both of them while on the sets.

I have had the privilege of acting alongside ‘Action King’ Arjun once again, after a gap of 25 years. This, too, is an unforgettable moment for me; I owe him my sincere thanks. It was a delight working alongside Preethi. We shared a wonderful wavelength, which made for a very energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere on the sets. I have never, in my entire life, raised my hand to strike anyone; I have absolutely no connection to violence. Yet, I must thank our Stunt Choreographer, Phoenix Prabhu, for portraying me in such a violent and formidable manner in this film. My heartfelt gratitude extends not only to him but also to every single stunt artist who worked as part of his team.
Throughout my career in cinema, I have acted in various genres—including comedy, horror, and romance. However, this marks my very first foray into the action genre. I am grateful to the stunt choreographer and his team for instilling in me the confidence that I am indeed capable of performing in such roles.

Director Subash is like a younger brother to me. I am certain that this film will be a resounding success; therefore, I feel immense joy in having played even a small part in his triumph. His writing was both impactful and refined. The inspiration behind my character in this film is none other than his own mother—a woman who holds a Black Belt in Karate. Consequently, it was a matter of great pride for me to take on and portray this character. I would like to thank the director once again for offering me this opportunity.

This film addresses the subject of how a young girl should be raised. Currently, there is a prevailing sentiment in society that women lack adequate safety. However, this film demonstrates how a woman within this society can ensure her own safety by mastering the art of self-defense. That is the essence of this film, ‘Blast.’ It was precisely because of this core concept that we felt compelled to produce this movie.”

I have had the privilege of working with a great many debutant directors; among them, Director Subash K. Raj stands out for his astuteness. He possesses the knack of skillfully and elegantly extracting exactly what he requires from his artists. Furthermore, I learned a great many new things from the young, talented individuals who worked on this film.” As composer Ravi Basrur noted, AGS Entertainment meticulously scrutinizes—or “zooms in on”—every talented individual before selecting them. However, they had not “zoomed in” on me until now; this marks my very first collaboration with this production house. Their professionalism, their approach, and every aspect of their work are executed with exceptional dedication. Aishwarya Kalpathi visited the film set around 2:00 AM; witnessing that left me feeling both surprised and delighted.
When I first acted alongside actress Abhirami, she spoke only Malayalam—or at best, broken Tamil. Yet today, she speaks Tamil with such fluency and flair that it is truly impressive. Simultaneously, she has achieved numerous milestones in her career as an actress. She is not merely an actress, but a singer as well. She has delivered a magnificent performance in this film; through sheer hard work and dedication, she has acted in a truly spectacular manner. I invite you to watch the film to witness this for yourselves.
Similarly, I am filled with admiration for actress Preethi Mukundan. Whenever I saw her on the set, she was invariably engaged in training. She is, fundamentally, a gifted dancer. During the action sequences, I was astonished to see her legs extend to incredible heights with such effortless grace. I sincerely hope that she continues to take on such action-oriented roles in the future.
