Actor Udhaya Pays Tearful Tribute to the Late Producer Mr. R.B. Choudary
Actor Udhaya has released the following statement, paying a tearful tribute to producer Mr. R.B. Choudary, who passed away in an accident in Rajasthan:
“Since hearing this tragic news, I have been in a state of deep shock and rendered speechless. To me, Mr. R.B. Choudary was not merely my first producer and my mentor; he was a divine figure. If I stand before you today as an actor, the primary reason for it is Mr. R.B. Choudary; declaring, ‘I am introducing Udhaya,’ he launched me into the film industry through the movie Thirunelveli, released in the year 2000. Although he introduced numerous directors and technicians, the fact that I was the very first person he introduced as a lead actor remains a source of immense pride and deep emotion for me. That very moment marked the true beginning of my life.
While he embraced me with the affection of a father, he also interacted with me as a close friend. He would engage in candid conversations with us regarding the prevailing commercial landscape and challenges within the film industry. Jeeva, Ramesh, and I—we all grew up together under his wing. Whether it was the lead actors or the directors he introduced, he treated them all as his own children, showering them with love and affection. By consistently providing opportunities to talented individuals, he played a pivotal role in elevating Tamil cinema to the next level.
Possessing a deep concern for his health and always operating with boundless enthusiasm, he offered us a wealth of valuable advice.” When I ventured into film production, he offered me counsel with the affectionate authority of a mentor: “In today’s industry climate, is this really necessary for you? You are a fine actor; focus on your craft. However, if you do succeed as a producer, no one would be happier than I.” He continued to offer me guidance even when I contested the recently held Producers Council elections.
It was he who bestowed upon me the honor of being the very first lead actor for the esteemed banner, Super Good Films. Whether it was the Actors’ Association elections or the Producers Council elections, he stood firmly by my side, offering his unwavering support at every stage.
I simply cannot come to terms with the fact that we lost him yesterday in a tragic accident. It had always been my custom to seek his blessings before embarking on any auspicious endeavor. The loss of such a towering personality is an irreparable tragedy for the entire film fraternity.
I am at a loss for words to console Jeeva, Ramesh, Suresh Sir, and their families. As a son introduced to the world through his patronage, I say this: “Father, you remain with us forever.” I cannot accept the reality of this accident. Even now, I feel your presence—as if you are still right there in the Super Good Films office.
I pray to God that your soul may rest in peace. You will forever remain our guiding deity, leading us forward. It is my earnest wish that the legendary phrase, “Presented by R.B. Choudary,” shines once again upon the silver screen, and that—through your enduring legacy—many more new talents continue to emerge into the limelight.
Forever in your memory,
Actor Udaya
