Films based on sports are a rarity at Kollywood unlike Bollywood wherein films such as Chakde India (2007), Dangal (2016) etc stole the hearts of the viewers both critically and commercially!
Well, here is one flick in Tamil that is excellent in terms of content as well as in its presentation.
Kotapadi J. Rajesh is too good for words both in running as well as in performance.
Evidently, he has toiled hard to fit into the character of the protagonist whose ambition is to participate in global sports events and bring gold/glory to the Nation!
Though he doesn’t look that young, the screenplay projects him as a guy who is at the last lap of his sports career! Further, the maker has not loaded him with a romantic angle and hence the focus of the screenplay remains watertight!
Viji Venkatesh as the Advocate General is adequate.
Ghibran Vaibodha’s background score perfectly matches the mood of the proceedings.
Mansoor Ali Khan has come up with a subdued performance.
A well conceived, crafted and executed sports drama in which the Courtroom sequences are emotional enough to sustain the interest of the audience till the closing portions.
