“Attacker” – Tamil Cinema’s First Volleyball-Themed Film – Launches with a Grand Pooja Ceremony
The launch ceremony for “Attacker”—a film marking the debut of Pavish (actor Dhanush’s nephew) and Avantika Sundar (daughter of actor-director Sundar C and actress Khushbu)—took place today in Chennai with a traditional pooja. Produced by Dineshraj on behalf of the BSE-listed company Jinima Media and Entertainment Limited, the film is set to be a unique cinematic venture.
“Attacker” is the third Tamil film produced by Jinima Media and Entertainment Limited and marks the directorial debut of Damo Nagabhushanam. Having previously worked as an associate director under Pa. Ranjith, Nagabhushanam is now helming this project, which explores a distinctive subject matter.
“Attacker” stands as the first Tamil film centered on the sport of volleyball. The movie aims to blend the excitement of the sport with its culture, heritage, and associated social identities.
Director Pa. Ranjith and Indian film producer, distributor, and analyst G. Dhananjayan attended the launch ceremony as special guests. Several prominent figures from the sports world, including Indian volleyball players G.R. Vaishnav and L.M. Manoj, also participated in the event and extended their best wishes to the film crew.
Speaking at the event, Director Pa. Ranjith said, “I was the first person to introduce volleyball in my village. That sport brought about positive changes in the lives of many young people. It is truly heartening to see a Tamil film being made with volleyball as its central theme today. I offer my heartfelt wishes for the massive success of ‘Attacker’.”
Speaking on the occasion, G. Dhananjayan stated, “Dineshraj is an excellent producer. He possesses the talent to create quality productions within a planned budget. At the same time, the films he produces are unique in terms of quality and grandeur. I am confident that the movie ‘Attacker’ will achieve massive success.”

Many newcomers and talented technicians are working on this film. The actors have been undergoing rigorous volleyball training for over six months. Several national-level volleyball players, including Ajith Lal—one of India’s leading players—are playing key roles in the movie.

The previously released promo video for “Attacker” has garnered millions of views and gone viral on social media, further heightening audience anticipation for the film.
