Singer Karthik Says Life Has Come Full Circle As He Voices He-Man in Tamil: ‘If Someone Had Told 8-Year-Old Me…’

He-Man and The Masters of The Universe is set to release on 5th June in cinemas. The film is releasing in five languages in India, including Tamil, with Karthik lending his voice for it.

It is officially He-Man and The Masters of the Universe week! The film, originally releasing in English worldwide, is getting dubbed in multiple languages in India. These include Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The Tamil version has singer Karthik lending his voice to He-Man and he is joined by Adithya Menon voicing Skeletor and Arjun Sarja doubling as Duncan. Speaking about voicing He-Man, Karthik confesses it feels like his life has come full circle.

A big fan of the animated show from the 1980s, Karthik said it is an honour for him to be a part of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. “If someone had told 8-year-old Karthik that one day he would become the voice of He-Man in 2026, that little boy would never have believed it. Being a part of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe truly feels surreal and deeply special to me. Like so many children who grew up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, I was completely fascinated by the world of Eternia. We all dreamed of holding that iconic sword, shouting “I have the power!”, and becoming heroes in our own little ways,” he said.

For Karthik, He-Man was never merely an animated character. He meant a lot more. “He represented courage, hope, and the belief that strength comes from within. So, getting the opportunity to dub for He-Man in Tamil honestly feels like a childhood dream coming full circle,” he shared.

Speaking about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, set to release in theatres on 5th June, Karthik said, “What I especially loved about this film is how beautifully written and emotionally layered it is. Director Travis Knight has brought so much depth and humanity to He-Man, making him far more than just a larger-than-life superhero. That gave me immense scope as a voice actor and performer to experiment with emotions, vulnerability, strength, and warmth through my voice. The entire experience has been nostalgic, emotional, and incredibly fulfilling for me. I genuinely cannot wait for audiences and longtime fans of He-Man to experience this new world and hear the character come alive in Tamil.”

Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Travis Knight, He-Man and The Masters of the Universe stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Jared Leto as Skeletor, with Man-At-Arms played by Idris Elba. The film also features Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto. The film aims to bring one of pop culture’s most iconic fantasy worlds back to life for a new generation.

Sony Pictures Releasing International releases He-Man and The Masters of the Universe theatrically on 5th June 2026 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
