T. Rajendar Condoles the Passing of Bharathiraja!
The passing of the legendary Director Bharathiraja—the ‘Lion of the South’ who captivated fans with his distinctive, gravelly voice; the ‘gem’ hailing from the Theni region; a towering figure in Tamil cinema—weighs heavily on my heart. He was the creator of ‘Mayil’ in the film 16 Vayathinile; the one who made the train sing like a cuckoo in Kizhake Pogum Rail; the sculptor of Pudhiya Vaarpugal; the sower of Sigappu Rojakkal; an artist who remained steadfast like Niram Maaratha Pookkal; a spreader of the authentic scent of the soil; a spirited force in Kizhakku Cheemayile; and the visionary behind Mudhal Mariyadhai. He earned the highest respect within the Tamil film industry. The news of his passing pierces the heart like a spear; it is unbearable. I do not know how to cope with this loss. I offer my solace and deepest condolences to the fans across Tamil cinema and South India, as well as to his grieving family. I pray to the Almighty for his soul to rest in peace.
Yours,
Actor, Tamil Film Producer, Director, Film Distributor, and President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council,
T. Rajendar
