Renowned film director Seenu Ramasamy met the Honorable Chief Minister of Puducherry in person this evening. He presented his book titled “Cinemavin Aatma” (Film Appreciation Education for Children) and explained its objectives in detail.
After listening to the director’s views, the Honorable Chief Minister assured that the School Education Department would conduct a thorough review of the book and take appropriate measures.

- Molding Well-Rounded Individuals: This is not ‘technical education’ that teaches skills like cinematography or editing; rather, it is ‘Film Appreciation Education’ that teaches how to appreciate human emotions, ethical living, and artistic nuances.
- A ‘Vaccine’ for Mental Well-being: In today’s times, an appreciation for art is crucial for children to develop into individuals with good hearts—free from substance abuse and violence, and inclined to do good for others.
- A Guide for Teachers: This is not a textbook for children to study from; instead, it serves as an excellent guide for teachers who instruct students in the art of cinema. It has been created as a must-read book for students in Grade 6 and above, as well as for their parents and teachers.
Key Requests Put Forward:
- Mandatory Inclusion in Libraries: This book should be made available for use in every school library, staff room, teacher training institute, and college. 2. ‘Home Theater’ facilities in schools: Educational institutions should come forward to set up dedicated ‘home theater’ facilities in every school for screening films, thereby fostering children’s understanding of world cinema and enabling them to watch outstanding international children’s films.
