Greetings.
No one here imparts education on film appreciation to our children—be it school or college students—to guide them on what constitutes “right” or meaningful cinema. This is something my beloved mentor, Balu Mahendra, proposed and strongly emphasized throughout his lifetime.
Just as schools offer subjects for arts like painting and sports, he believed it was a crucial necessity to have “appreciation education” for cinema—an art form that flows through our very veins and nerves—to teach what constitutes great cinema.
This small initiative, aimed at introducing world cinema appreciation to our students, is a design born from the starting point he established. My heart rejoices today to carry forward the flame he ignited.
