“Thirukkural 2” Preview Stuns American Tamils!
A preview clip of the film “Thirukkural 2” was screened at the North American Tamil Sangam festival.
Ramana Communications, the production house behind films like Kamaraj and Welcome Back Gandhi, produced and released the film Thirukkural last year. That film was directed by A.J. Balakrishnan.
As a follow-up, a sequel is currently in production, emphasizing various concepts that were not covered in the first film.
It is being produced in English under the title “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan.”
Kalai Chozhan, who played Valluvan in the first Thirukkural film, and Dhanalakshmi, who played Vasuki, are reprising their roles in this sequel. Many other actors, actresses, and technicians are also involved in the project.
The film is produced by Ramana Communications and presented by Dr. G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT and President of Tamiliyakkam. T.P. Rajendran has also joined this noble endeavor.
Edwin Sakay, the cinematographer for the first Thirukkural film, is handling the cinematography for this sequel as well.
A.J. Balakrishnan is writing and directing the film.
While the shooting for the sequel is underway, the North American Tamil Sangam festival—organized by the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America—took place yesterday. Notably, the original Thirukkural film was screened at the event and captured everyone’s attention.
Additionally, a four-minute preview clip of the sequel, “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan” (being made in English), was screened.
The audience was left spellbound by the scenes depicting Aram (virtue/righteousness). When Director A.J. Balakrishnan was contacted and asked how such virtue is possible in today’s modern era,
Director Balakrishnan responded:
“Civilization, actions, and thoughts may change, but Aram (virtue) never changes.”
