It has been close to four decades, 38 years, to be exact, since the time when Sevalaya sprang into action to extend succour to the poor and the needy, the helpless and the hapless that comprises not only human beings but animals too!
Muralidharan, the Founder is the brain behind the formulation and functioning of Sevalaya that has been rendering illustrious services to those who are in dire straits without any help from their families.
Cows that are no more milk yielding and dogs without homes are cared for and taken care of!
Children who lack financial support to pursue education are provided with accommodation, food and books – all free of cost.

Sevalaya is a 38 year old NGO active in the area of education, homes, health care and rural development. it runs a free school for 2200 children in Kasuva, in the rural periphery of Chennai. are normal. It has 5 old age home and a children’s hostel that are home to over 100 elders and children each. Sevalaya runs a hospital offering free medical care to the tribal community and one in Kasuva. Besides, supported by major corporates, it runs around the year medical camps and mobile vans. It has undertaken integrated village development programs in many parts of Tamilnadu. Sevalaya is active in over 60 cents in South India and has extended its activities into Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Sevalaya has commissioned a documentary film covering the broad history and activities of the organisation that has been written and directed by Sandeep Rai.
