“This is the right time for those who want to do something different in cinema.”
– ‘Sodakku’ Director Kamaraj Manonmani!!
Sodakku – Starring Natti and Viddarth together!
An action-thriller directed by Kamaraj Manonmani!
Deva Entertainments and the Malaysian production house Jubilee Film Productions are jointly producing an action-thriller film. Presented by Masterpiece, the film has been titled #Sodakku.
Director Kamaraj Manonmani says:
“This is the perfect time for those wishing to approach cinema differently. The arrival of my film ‘Sodakku’ at this juncture is a huge advantage. It is a thriller. True to its title—’Sodakku’ (a snap of the fingers)—the film offers a unique distinction. Our movie is like home-cooked food; it energizes the body and offers a taste that gets better with every bite.
A person’s life can change in the split second it takes to snap one’s fingers. This story revolves around the life-altering changes and the sequence of events that unfold during such a moment. It captures the intrigue and thrilling twists that arise from those pivotal, life-changing events we all experience. It is a story that will feel very relatable. Another aspect explored is: what if we knew today what was going to happen tomorrow? The story delves into how the resulting changes and confusion turn life upside down and how one faces that situation. This screenplay offers a thriller experience that can be enjoyed with the whole family.
Natti truly internalized the story and infused it with his own natural style. He told me, ‘You have a great presentation. If you have a good story, don’t hesitate to call me anytime; we can discuss it and even make the film.’ Directors Lingusamy and Saran are close friends of mine.” These are people who rejoice in my success; this collaboration came together thanks to their efforts. We formed a great team featuring Kayal Anandhi, Rakshitha, Abhishek, and Dato Ganesan.
Director Saran, who usually does not write dialogues for films, penned the dialogues for this project specifically for me.
It is often said that words convey only half the message; in filmmaking, it is common for cinematographers to interpret a director’s words differently and shoot accordingly. However, cinematographer Udhayakumar—who worked his magic on Kurangu Bommai—captured exactly what I envisioned without any such disconnect.
The film’s music director is Abhishek.
He crafted songs and a background score that deeply stir the soul and evoke strong emotions.
He is an alumnus of A.R. Rahman’s music college.
The entire story unfolds in Malaysia, and we have captured the beauty of the location on screen. Producers Muthukumar, Deva Arjun, and Dato Ganesan Arumugam facilitated the filming of the entire movie in Malaysia.
‘Queen Transanando’ once said that cinema cannot be studied, only felt—a sentiment I deeply resonate with. Audiences coming to watch Sodakku for a compelling thriller or an entertaining commercial film will not be disappointed. We are pouring our efforts into a project that targets today’s youth while maintaining high aesthetic standards, and we are confident of a successful outcome.
