‘Thagappan’ Shooting Wrapped Up in 40 Days Thanks to Jiiva’s Dedication!
‘Thagappan’ Team Achieves the Feat: Shooting Completed in Just 40 Days!
The shooting for the film ‘Thagappan’—starring Jiiva, produced by Lark Studios, and directed by Ra. Venkat—has been fully completed. Although the team had originally planned to finish filming in 45 days, the schedule was successfully wrapped up in just 40 days, thanks to the excellent cooperation of everyone involved.
Set against the backdrop of Madurai and its surrounding areas, ‘Thagappan’ is a profound family drama centered on the father-son relationship, familial bonds, and human emotions. Notably, the film—which is steeped in the authentic atmosphere of rural life—has already garnered a positive reception from fans following the release of its first-look poster.
Speaking about the completion of the shoot, director Ra. Venkat said…
Director Ra. Venkat stated that actor Jiiva’s immense dedication and cooperation were the primary reasons for completing the shoot ahead of schedule. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, noting that the completion of the 45-day planned schedule in just 40 days was made possible by the excellent cooperation of lead actress Rajisha Vijayan, the contribution of cinematographer Sukumar, and the dedicated hard work of the entire technical crew.
The journey of ‘Thagappan’ began with an inaugural ceremony at a temple in the Melur area. Subsequently, filming was conducted in various phases across Madurai and its outskirts, with key scenes also shot within Madurai city.
As a special highlight, the final phase of the film—involving night shoots—took place at the very same Melavalavu Karuppu Temple in Melur where the production had originally commenced. The director stated that wrapping up the shoot at the very location where filming began brought immense joy to the entire crew.
Following the completion of the shoot, the crew celebrated the occasion by performing a ritual sacrifice (goat offering) and hosting a feast for the public at the Melavalavu Karuppu Temple in Melur, sharing the joy with the local community. This gesture by the film crew reportedly delighted the local residents.
‘Thagappan’ marks a return to a purely rural setting for Jiiva, following his earlier film ‘Thenavettu’. There is considerable anticipation that this movie will prove to be a unique and significant project in Jiiva’s filmography.
National Award-winning actress Rajisha Vijayan plays the female lead. The music is composed by independent musician Marshall Robinson, who brings experience from working with leading composers. The team also includes R. Balakumar (Executive Producer), Prithiviraja Chinnasamy (Head of Distribution), Yuvaraj (PRO), and Dinesh Ashok (Publicity Designer).
